First, I want to start by saying that over the last three weeks, I have found a new respect for QB Chad Henne. The man, despite dropped balls by receivers and HORRID offensive line play, has managed to play significantly better than he ever has before. Part of that I attribute to the fact that Dan Henning is no longer anywhere near this offense. And part of it I attribute to Henne himself.Through 3 games, Henne’s QB rating is 82.4. Not great, but certainly better than last year’s 75.4 rating. He has thrown 4 TD passes, and had at least 3 more TD passes dropped. He has also thrown 3 INTs, two of which came on the last play of the game and one, against the Texans, where he was hit as he threw the ball. But what is more impressive to me is the fact that he has done this in the face of INTENSE pass rush.Henne is on pace to be sacked about 60 times this season!! He was sacked 4 times and hit 12 more times by the Pats (with 17 pressures), sacked twice, hit 8 times, and had 5 QB pressures against the Texans, and was sacked 5 times against the Browns and hit 13 more times. The man faces significant pressure almost every other time he goes back to throw. Now factor in that the coaching staff has had to significantly alter their offensive game plan because of this. The Fins coaching staff brought Nate Garner in as a TE over 20 times against the Browns, and he lined up exclusively on the right side. And the times Garner was not in the game, Anthony Fasano was lined up on the right side. Colombo can run block okay, but cannot pass block worth squat. So Miami is throwing out of a two TE set with Garner doing nothing but helping Colombo pass block. That is ALTERING our offensive game plan.Just imagine what Henne could do if the Fins did not have to bring Garner in? Instead, they could bring in Reggie Bush, sending him in motion, lining him up in the slot, or taking swing passes out of the backfield while also having Daniel Thomas in the backfield. A dual threat (both running and passing) that defenses would have to account for. (Thomas and Bush were never used together against the Browns.) And improved blocking would significantly improve our play action ability as well. When Henne drops back to throw and is given the normal amount of time to throw, he completes 58 % of his passes, as compared to 53.8% when under pressure. His yards per completion drops from 8.2 to 7.1 when pressured. And Henne is under strong pressure about every other time he drops back to throw! And yet, while Henne is playing much better, his completion percentage is down from 61.2% last year to 56.6% this year. Why? A big part of that is because the Oline play is worse this year and because the receivers cannot hold onto the ball.http://finnation.com/?p=4012&utm_so...campaign=the-offensive-problems-are-not-henne

Henne is fine. The Dolphins have a ton of problems otherwise. It's hardly worth arguing these days. I've just accepted the fact what will happen will happen and we (these boards) have no control over it. I'll take Henne over the years of drifting in QB hell since Marino retired anyday. Being patient and waiting a few more years for a guy that clearly has positives is very little to ask IMO.

Excellent point about that "Number 75 reports as eligible" every other ****ING PLAY took me a minute to catch on. Jesus H that ruins the offense even worse. That actually helps to explain a decent reason as to why we don't do some of the things you mentioned. Colombo LMFAO

i think chad henne has improved alot but i still believe he is our main problem. He panics under pressure and makes innaccurate throws due to pressure, he cant make the throws all good qbs can make. He cant get you 20 yards at the end of games when you need 20 yards to win the game.

Just more excuses. Good QBs get by in the face of those problems & many others.

Henne's improved & is an adequate backup ... until he can improve & ... win games = NO CAN DO!!

Henne is a top 10 QB. No doubt. Just take away any play inside the opponents 20....any pass requiring touch....any play inside two minutes....or any pressure situation......and he's top 10. No doubt.

Would agree with any bad thing said about the O-line. Simply atrocious including in large part an obviously injured Jake Long. Pouncey may be our best O lineman so far and that is saying very little.

yup

taking options and play makers off the field

I've asked a million times, whats one more...

exactly when does tom brady throw a touch pass????

dude rifles every ****ing throw he makes. I'm sick of the touch pass BS.... tom brady in the redzone especially, throws lasers to those tight ends in the back of the endzone, and rockets to wes welker on the quick out like the one he beat us on.... i'd have to think if I've even seen brady throw a fade to the corner this year.

I'm for getting lucky next year, he's way better than henne.... but a lot like henne, luck can't...

I agree with you on long and pouncey for sure though. basically what it comes down is, this team just really sucks right now.

keep the opponents offense out of the endzone. correct me if I am wrong but I think there was 1:55 left when we went up by six points... the defense could do anything in that 1:55 EXCEPT give up a touchdown, and what do we do.....

that pass he threw to welker on us for 90+ yards over nolan carroll or whoever that was , was in deed a touch pass...one henne doesnt know how to make and probably never tried even in practice.

Many people here think you need a TOP QB to go far... in that case Henne will never be that. If you believe we can win with a middle of the road QB then perhaps he's our guy... Which do you have faith in?

welker caught that ball at what the 12 yard line... so I guess in a way your right... I would go so far as to say that 31 other qb's haven't and probably won't practice a touch pass from their own endzone to the 12 yard line...

i still don't recall it being a lazy lofted touch pass... you could be right though.

Well when i think of touch pass i think of adding something extra onto ur pass basketball people call it "english" but adding english to a pass doesnt mean throwing it hard over a defender but the touch pass kinda floats and lands exactly where the receiver can catch it in stride. Talk about looking off a wr. Pre snap brady didnt even look in welkers direction. as soon as he snapped it he looked his way...

I'll conceed that napsndreds...

I guess the touch pass I'm most referring to is the corner fade. Most of the td's I've seen brady throw especially this year have been bullets. he catches gronkowski in the middle of the back of the endzone or welker on a quick out, or sometimes the WR just stops and curls and ball is on the nats *** in a hurry...
