Funny how in June when Matsui and Sheffield went down the only thing going around Yankee land was crying and making up excuses if they didn't make the playoffs.

I wouldn't be laughing at injuries because karma could be a funny thing....

The Sox have no excuses, most of their injuries/illnesses have happened after the Boston Massacre Part II. You guys had a chance to seperate from us when we were going through major injuries and you didn't. I don't laugh at injuries and I don't want to see any injuries, I hope all your guys are ok(especially Lester) and back soon.

I agree with everything you said except that most of the injuries and illnesses have happened after the Boston Massacre. While everyone went on the DL or missed games after it: Ortiz was in the hospital Friday night into Saturday morning, Manny had been hurt since early in the year (not that the injury hurt him in that series), Wily Mo had a bum wrist, Varitek was out (and although he wasn't hitting I would bet that he would have caught those two passed balls/wild pitches on Sunday and Monday), Nixon was out, and Lester was pitching while sick (who knows how that affected him if any). The Sox were a beat up team that weekend but again not taking anything away from what the Yankees did because the Sox had been horrible since the All Star break and the Yankees were and are the better team. Even if the Sox won 2 or 3 games that weekend I still wasn't confident that they would have made the playoffs, because they were playing that badly.

The fact is Sox probably weren't going to make the playoffs (maybe the Wild Card but not the division) before the injuries. No Sox fan is complaining or using injuries as excuses. The team underachieved in the 2nd half (or overachieved in the 1st half). It's going to be a long winter and right now I'm not really confident in the 2007 season because the F.O. has a lot of work to do.

Neither did you in May, but that didn't stop you guys from lining them up in this thread.

I haven't seen one post written by a Red Sox fan citing injuries as the reason for their poor play.

Even when you guys were healthy and the Yankees had their injuries they never, ever came close to tanking as bad as you guys have. I mean what a disgrace, one of the highest payrolls in baseball and you've tanked like people expected the Marlins too. But I know, here comes 2004 because that's all you got. You ladies had your chance to bury the Yankees multiple times this year and couldn't close the job. The Yankees saw a chance to close the door on your guys and slammed it on your hands. That's the difference between these franchises, the Yankees are all about winning, the Red Sox are all about the buck. That's why your owners are making money hand over fist and still were to greedy to make a deal at the deadline, when you guys clearly needed help and were still in first place. And don't give me that line about you guys planning for the future because when your in first place heading into August with vets like Papi, Lowell, Manny, Schilling, Varitek and Timlin (among others) , the future is now. Now go back to your Red Sox thread and go back to discussing your losses to the Blue-Jays, Mariners, or whoever else is waxing the floor with you guys this week!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

FYI, since the new ownership (who apparently is only concerned with the almighty buck) took over..
World Championships:
Red Sox - 1
Yankees - 0

2 out of 3 from the Twins starting 2 rookies and Cory Lidle, I'll take it anyday of the week. The Yankees looked really strong against 2 AL teams who are in the playoff hunt, so I'm more then pleased with their performance (especially considering Moose didn't pitch). Now there on their way to KC where they'll have Wang, Moose, and Randy going. On paper they should win all 3 games but KC has been playing spoiler to Minnesota and Chicago lately so I expect them to play every game tough and probably steal one. Either way I never thought that on September 3rd the Yankees would be this comfortably in first place. It's great because it's going to allow guys a ton of rest before the playoffs and the Yankees will be able to set their rotation how they want for the playoffs. Plus I hope Wang wins 20, he's been the Yankees most consistant pitcher this season and deserves it. Hopefully he'll get 17 tomorrow!

Junc, those titles don't count, don't you know baseball started in 2004 according the Red Sox fans? I mean the Yankees bring up their 26 titles and get killed for bringing up history. The Red Sox bring up 2004 and think it's OK because the Yankees finally choked. But let's not bring up the fact that they were 5 outs away from taking the Yankees in 03 AND CHOKED. That the Yankees massacred them in 78, another huge CHOKE. That they choked against the Mets in 86 and just recently choked a 5 game series at home against us. But those chokes don't count, only 04 does. The fact is this, history is history and right now (which is all that matters) the Red Sox are 9 back and finished. Red Sox fans, who were convinced this was a World Series team, who were convinced that Coco would be as good as Damon (I'm still LMAO at that one), who were convinced the Yankees were toast in May and June aren't anywhere to be found except for stupid one liners in the Yankees thread referring to 04. 26 titles doesn't lie, taking 5 games at Fenway doesn't lie, and neither does a 9 game lead in the division. The fact is the Red Sox are DONE IN 06 so you ladies might as well face the music and put all your focus on Dolphins football because that's the only chance you guys got at seeing another title!

the biggest choke of all time is the 86 world series.

game 6........bottom nine, one run lead.........nobody on base. .......2 outs. .......2 strikes. ........bottom of the order. litterally one strike away from winning it all. Then the likes of 176 year old Gary Carter, Ray Night, Kevin Mitchell (who was half naked playing cards in the clubhouse 2 min before he was standing at home plate using a bat that wasn't his), and Mookie Wilson string togther a 2 out ralley.:shakeno: :shakeno:

I didn't know the new ownership was around in 1927?

Strong Island was the one over there who was ripping on the Red Sox ownership. Since they have taken over the Sox franchise, Boston has more titles than New York.
