The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Found an extremely good article about Alex Rodriguez. It's long as hell but very interesting with a lot of insider information and surprising thoughts and comments about Arod and his relationship with the Yankees organization and players.

Here it is if anyone is interested:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/magazine/09/19/arod0925/index.html

I was most surprised in the article that Giambi is such a vocal leader inside the clubhouse, the stuff on Reggie Jackson, Arod really doesn't have friends on the team and David Ortiz helped to calm him down in the middle of a game in May.

And I'm not posting this to start any debates or arguements, I just thought it was a good/interesting read for not just Yankee fans but baseball fans.

It just seems to me they're trying to make A-Rod look bad and embareass him. I wonder what would've happened if A-Rod threw Giambi under the bus after struggling after the 'roid allegations.

Another article about A-Rod

"[Mike] Mussina doesn't get hammered at all," he told SI. "He's making a boatload of money. Giambi's making [$20.4 million], which is fine and dandy, but it seems those guys get a pass. When people write [bad things] about me, I don't know if it's [because] I'm good-looking, I'm biracial, I make the most money, I play on the most popular team ..."

2 Red Sox fans who haven't been able to be found in the Yankees thread or in their own for the last month appear out the wood work to give their 2 cents on A-Rod LMAO. C'mon guys what's the matter, you guys jump off the Red Sox bandwagon now that their 11 games back?

Well the Red Sox lost which means the Yankees are officially the 2006 AL East Champions. You have to give them a lot of credit, they weren't playing the best ball in the beginning of the season but never quit and that's why they're the East champions again. Cashman made some good moves getting Abreu, who is perfect for the team and everyone came together at the right time. They were the better team in the East, and possibly baseball, this year and they deserve their credit. Congrats to the team and the fans.

And you will ONLY see them in the playoffs if/when NY loses.

Otherwise they will keep a healthy distance away.

A nice subway series should do all of Boston well. The team that crushed them in 1986 that they still hate to this day. And the team that crushes them 88 out of 89 years!! :sidelol:

Yankees/Mets gotta be the favorites. I think if the Mets don't make World Series it will be a bigger dissapointment than if the Yankees don't make it, which seems strange to think.

the national league is a joke. If the Mets don't make it to the world series then something is seriously wrong
