The red sox were trying to make this trade too. they wanted abreu as bad as the yanks did.

No they weren't. Not seriously anyway.

If the Sox wanted him they would have gotten him. What the Yankees gave up for him was peanuts, the Sox could have matched them easily.

This is definitely a good move for the Yankees but there wasn't any serious competion from the Red Sox at all.

Yeah you're right. I think the Sox said they wanted Abreu just to try and raise the price for the Yankees (which obviously didn't work). The truth is the Sox didn't want to add onto their payroll (especially for one player) for what Abreu would have cost them.

Of course you guys weren't in any serious competition for Abreu, your owners couldn't gather enough food stamps together to afford a player like Abreu, let alone his salary. If only the trade deadline was at the 1st or 15th you'd guys be set!

But I know you guys, your pitching is better then ours and the Yankees don't have enough pitching to win it all (sorry I have to laugh :sidelol: ) even though the Yankees have given up 14 less runs then you guys in one less game and you guys are the best defensive team in baseball. But we've heard all the excuses before as to why your going to win the division. Your playing the Royals 100 more times, the majority of your schedule is at home, we have no pitching, A-Rod sucks, I mean the list goes on and on. It's funny how we have no pitching when aside from Papelbon all of your rookies are starting to implode out of the bullpen, when you guys are depending on the return of an injured Wells (who's been gone most of the season) Matt Clement (and horrible 2nd half pitcher) and Wakefield(a fractured rib don't heal over-night) to contribute to this team coming of injuries, and when Beckett and his near .5 ERA have been bailed out by great run support, the only reason he has as many wins as he does. Add to that we're 5-4 against you guys and I'd say that nothing besides Red Sox fans mouths shows that their a better pitching team. And I laugh at how Red Sox fans laughed at how the Yankees supposedly picked up Ponson from the garbage. How's Jason Johnson working out for you guys, a player picked from the garbage!

You want to know whats sad.

If the WIld Card comes out of the AL East that the team that wins the division is in WORSE shape than the team that gets the wild card.

Who wold you rather face Rd 1 of the playoffs, Detroit or LAA? Exactly, Detroit. Detroit will have the best record, facing the Wild Card team (if the WC comes out of the East).

:sidelol: The same people who were mocking Randy yesterday were eating their own crap tonight with Schilling. I would take a 1-2 punch of Mussiana and Wang over Schilling and Beckett right now. Neither team has much in middle relief and they both have a great closer.

And your giving Matt Clement too much credit. He isn't a terrible 2nd half pitcher. He's just terrible in general! They are quick to mock the Pavano and Wright signings then put their heads in the sand for Wade Miller and Matt Clements signings. Miller didn't even last a season! :shakeno:

Hey!.... actually I gotta agree with you on that, but from my persective and team history I'd rather face NYY then BOS.Then again you have that old saying "to be the best you gotta beat the best"....unless you can slide around them.

For every bad signing we've had, they've had just as bad of signings. How's Edgar Renteria and David Wells working out?

Geez we could go on and on about bad signings or trades whatever for any team in any sport. It's not worth our time.

Like I said before, the season is still far from over I wouldn't be acting like the Yankees won the division or World Series quite yet. Nor should Sox fan being doing the same thing. Both teams have holes to fill and need certain players to step it up. I will say in all honesty that I like the Yankee line up better than the Sox line up especially when Nixon and Varitek bat so freakin' high up. I think the starting rotation is a wash more or less but I like the Sox bullpen better because eventhough the kids are struggling I think they'll be fine in the end.

Oh please. Go blow it out your ***.

You know as well as I do that if the Sox were interested in Abreu the least it would have done is delay the signing and drive up the asking price.

Go on your whining soapbox come October. Your good at it though, all of this girl whining **** you have going on.

Buster Onley is reporting the Yanks might keep Sheffield next season too at $13 mill and play him at 1B.

Since he is a former 3B and SS who could make a transition to 1B easily

That's an interesting theory. You have to wonder if Sheffield would agree to play 1st though. Of course 13 million is a lot of money and I'm sure he'd give it the old college try to cash that pay check.

Well he did voulenteer to move to 3B when Aaron Boone went down a couple years ago. But that was a while ago.

He does like NY, he does want to stay, and he does want the $$$$$$.....but turning around and seeeing Abreu in RF everyday might make his blood boil and he might not be able to handle that. Should be interesting though.

For 1 year if he can be a good little boy, great lets do it. If he's gonna run his mouth and be a pain then F' em and I hope he walks.
