Not to rain on the parade, but how could no one is talking about Mussina and his back? It's probably a minor thing but it could turn into something to watch for.

its the groin and its minor.

And with a big lead in the divison we can give him some rest. Even if it means he misses a start and we go back and sign Ponson for a game.

Hey why sign Ponson when Pavano is waiting in the minors.

I'm sure it's nothing. Moose is a mental nut. He has serious OCD and when the game went into rain delay I knew he was done. I was surprised he even came out after the delay. The same thing happened to him in a prior start earlier in the year. He started the game, it went into delay and was never to be seen for the rest of the night. That's Moose, he probably didn't feel comfortable when the game went into delay and it probably messed with his rhythm and the Yankees probably said his back stiffened to cover up for the fact that he's a nut. That's what I think happened at least!

Carl will find a way to hurt himself on the plan ride to the west coast even now with no carry on luggage or anything carry on when it comes to flying. Trip on a seat belt or something a bruise a shin which will mean 6 more months or rehab.

Give me Sidney!

Ponson was designated for assignment. I'm sure he'll clear waivers but he's not on the active roster right now!

You're right. I don't remember who said it but one time Mussina was pitching at home either as a Yankee or O's and the game was suppose to start at 7:05, but either the national anthem or something and started late at like 7:11 and the person said Mussina was thrown off and just stunk for the rest of the night and didn't make it out of the 3rd inning.

Another example is in the 2004 ALCS when V-tek went to bat against him right handed because Mussina owns him and Mussina ended up walking him to start a big Red Sox rally.

im not sure if u mikeo or finsnyanks have an explanation for ths but im jw.......why does arod more errors when mussina is pitching??

thoughts

I think it's just coincidence. Your right, for some reason when Moose is on the mound A-Rod always seems to make a monterous errors but I think it's just a coincidence!

now we are at the point that we set our eyes on Detroit and try and get that best record in the AL and homefield throughout the playoffs.

I'll be at Fenway tomorrow, hopefully the Sox won't suck entirely. But tomorrow's game won't matter at all. I bet Torre treats this like a spring training game. Resting some of his players, if the Yankees/Red Sox score a ton of runs early, the regulars will be benched. As it is I'm not expecting all the regulars in the line up anyway.

P.S. Mike, you and I are getting along tonight!

Looks like you got it right Finkle. No Giambi, no Damon, and no Posada today!

and I stopped bye to read the OTHER thread tonight for the first time all year. And thank god I don't post there or visit at all. I made the mistake tonight and now I must respond. (visiting there is a mistake I won't make again)

To the clown who wants to "pinch run" for Ortiz in the 9th..........you couldn't have any less knowledge of baseball if you tried.

1) He's a DH. They only ask him to do 1 thing, HIT! If you can't stay in the game when you get a lead off double (granted error, but he ended up on 2nd) then seriously something is wrong. He's their best hitter in a tie game. So if the next 3 guys strike out, you then just took your best hitter and possible AL MVP out of the game for what????????? Nothnig??????? If he did that, then you would be crying the other side and want Francona hanging from a rope from the monster seats over left field!!!

2) You can't make any claim for him to be "MVP" if he can't stay in a tie game with no outs in the 9th inning when he's standing on second base!!!!!!!!!

3) the play at third wasn't realy close, Ricky Henderson would have been out when you bunt the ball back to the pitcher. Blame Youk (and why is he hitting 5th again?!!???) for that god awful bunt.

Yes.
Yes.
and Yes.
