The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Homefield throughout the playoffs. After having to travel to the West Coast for a deciding playoff game, I for one am happy the Yankees took advantage of the situation they were in this year and hopefully they'll be a deciding game at the stadium this year (or 3 for that matter)!

Now that we have taken care of our light work (Boston) in the 162 game season.

It's time to win 11 more games!!

Bring on Detriot!

Playing the tigers helps you guys big time, you did not want Santana in a short series. Now the A's and twins will have a hard fought series and you guys will be sitting and waiting.

It doesn't matter who we play, if we don't get good pitching, we're not going to win. The Tigers have a formidable line-up and are known to hit the homerun. The Yankees have to keep them in the ballpark and they should be OK. The thing I like about playing the Tigers is that there isn't a lot of speed on that team so our pitchers won't be on their toes with guys on base like the Tigers pitchers will have to be when we have men on base. I don't know if people know this about the Yankees but they were third in baseball on stolen bases. It's going to be fun and the thing that relieves me the most knowing the Yankees are playing the Tigers and not the Twins is that Randy Johnson will playing in a pitchers ballpark in Comerica so a lot of balls that would have carried out in the Metrodome won't at Comerica so since giving up the long ball is one of his weaknesses, it's less of a concern in Detroit then it is in Minnesota (with there fans blowing out when there up and blowing in when the Yankees are up lol)!

Yankees 139 stolen bases this season

Tigers 60!

Like past seasons, its not going to be our staff that I worry about, it will be our rediculous lineup and if they decide to slump at the same time (ala losses to 2002 Fla, Ana 2003, Bos 2004, Ana 2005) when they all took games off at the worst time.

I sure hope our bats do their job, and our arms do as expected and keep us in the game.

It didnt matter to me if it was Minn or Det in opening series. I like us vs either in short series. I am thrilled Ana isnt in this thing. I like our chances vs. Oak or Minn in long series.

Cant wait for Tuesday!

difference is we have so many bats, that even if 3 or 4 go cold, we have 3 or 4 more big bats to pick it up.

The odds of 9 bats going cold.,.......I Just don't see it

Me either, but I didnt see even the 3 or 4 doing it when we lost the last 5 years...so I sure hope I dont see it this go round.

Fingers crossed!

our lineup this year is much better and different than the past few years where they have killed us in postseason. 1-9 it's alot better and we aren't reliant on the HR like we have been, i'll be shocked if our O slumps.

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!!!!!!

I don't care about the MVP. If Jeter finishes in 4th, who cares. Stupid indivual awards anyway mean little. I don't care about Boston, their home.....F' them!!! The only thing that matters is 11 more wins from today on!!
