I wanted to post this in the main forum, as we were tossing this around in the VIP area....love to hear if you guys think he will remain on the team (yes) or (no)

It really makes me wonder why an athlete with so much to gain, respect, financial security and fame....not to mention self respect.............would show up to camp out of shape. Will Saban cut Manny Wright if he doesn't flourish in camp? He may have to make an example out of him! What a shame that he reportedly came to camp out of shape and couldn't finish his workouts. I guess thats why he was in the supplemental draft......history is a good indicator as Saban says.......

history says manny doesn't live up to expections! I hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it.

sorry for spelling Manny wrong in the poll...couldn't edit it!

I think he has much to learn but he will contribute effectively like the end of last year. These are mini's and I'm sure Saban will work his fat down and deleiver his message before TC begins. I hope anyway.

Saban sees something in him even if we all don't. He'll get jerked in line and come around. I just think he's got a case of the lazies.

You still have to question what Manny is thinking though. Last year Saban well you know then he really seemed motivated but even though Saban knows that he was too young and would be a project he took the risk and won't tolerate much more. Saban will want to look good by drafting him and I would think he expects Manny to show a little more appreciation toward Saban and the Phins for giving him the opprtunity. Bottom line is Manny has to grow up and fly straight from now on because Saban has better things to do than to worry if his supplemental draft pick is finally going to get it.

We've had a few guys do this through the years, but as long as they produced, it never became a serious issue. OJ McDuffie comes to mind. He used camp to get into shape, and they couldn't stop him from going out and partying hard all night long. It used to irk JJ.

Manny needs to realize that he's a pro now, he needs to work hard and stay in good shape in order to perform well and contribute

It must hard for someone naturally big to try to keep his weight down during the offseason, while still keeping his weight up to play defensive lineman.
I think Wright will get whipped to shape and will learn, but there's a learning curve because he's so young and not used to the system.

I think he should hire one of those personnal trainers that break your body down and let you know the diet or foods you need to stay at where you need to be. I beleive Ricky used one to gain weight before last year.

He will have to earn a spot like everyone else. We have a few DTs on the squad and Saban will not look back if he cant complete drills in TC. I dont think he will be cut before TC but wont be given any slack during TC.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he screwed himself out of a peacefull offseason. Poor fellow should have learned from last year. Of course you could always put some blame on the Phins as well. They should have a team trainer that specializes in what the team wants their players weight at and can give them mandatory diets for the offseason. That would be most helpfull to someone as young and inexperianced as Manny and could also benefit some vets.

Well, if he makes it thru camp, one of two things will be true...either he will have gotten straightened out (in his head) about what he needs to do and is flying right, at least from the effort area or...Saban still sees something in the guy and doesn't want to give up on him....He's done this with other players..Rohan Davey comes to mind...But it certainly it's time for him to wake up and smell the roses...it's dissapointing because it appeared as tho he had figured things out towards the end of last year...and he has the P word, too...

Nick should be able to get this Kid in shape, as well as help him see the light that makes a great NFL player and a Good Miami Dolphin.
