The OTHER Big Wide Recievers (nfl.com)

The thing I don't get is the fascination that a great WR needs to be above 6'2

I agree that great receivers come in all shapes and sizes, but the thinking in this scenario is that we need a larger frame to be the red zone threat we desperately need. We have speed (Stills) and we have a great inside man (Landry) now it is time to add size.

Gavin Lutman. Kid probably won't get draft but would love to bring him in as an undrafted free agent. If you watch his game film and highlight film on Hudl the guy makes one handed grabs repeatedly, great catch radius and he dominated DIV II football. Would have had even better stats had he not had to sit for the first few games due to eligibility concerns.

Chris Carter had interesting info on big WR's saying that when you get to 6'3" and above the big guys have some trouble in running routes because their hips are higher off the ground, which makes it harder to make quick moves. He mentioned Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson being a couple exception to the rule, and that Kevin White was another.

I prefer watching the hip movement of our cheerleaders over players but, that does make a lot of sense. Good to learn something new.

Coates is just so damn raw, and sucks at catching... Wish Perriman had some better hands too but I think he will be gone before 47

Agree on Coates, but how much of those hands are him and how much is because he had a RB throwing the ball to him? I think he's the best receiver in the draft once the ball is in his hands. I just have a feeling about Coates, I think he is going to be special.

On that same note, I've heard fans of the team say that Perriman was thrown a lot of bad balls and that may have attributed to his drops. and that it got better as the year went on

Coates has unlimited upside, he needs some fine tuning, but will make a great addition to any offense some day.
