Many of us noticed some things about the regime during Hard Knocks that could pose some trouble if a winning tradition wasn't established immediately.

The reaction to Ocho, the reaction to the leadership council, the OCD gum wrapper cleanups...

Some loved the "old school" no nonsense approach, but others warned it could be trouble down the road... I think now we are seeing the trouble.

When things start to go bad for a disciplinarian coach with no charisma that doesn't have a track record of success, they tend to go REAL bad...

Unlike with Sparano where the team started to rally for him late in seasons, even when he looked on the outs, I don't see this team doing that for Philbin... The cracks are showing, and the dam is about to burst...

The Martin situation seems to be the final catalyst. I would be VERY surprised if Philbin and Co managed to salvage this season.

I have never got the feeling that players here were all to fond of him or the staff. Even the Sparano was proven to be inept, it was apparent that players loved him and fought for him... I don't see that same fight for Philbin.

Two things.

One, the players flat out QUIT on Tony at the end of 2010. Flat out QUIT. That's why I wanted him gone and was furious when he was extended.

Two, tomorrow night's game is so critical I can't even put it into words how badly the team needs to win. A win tomorrow is everything, not because it cures the ills -- it doesn't -- but because a loss is Chernobyl.

Wow. If this is true, all bets are off regarding predicting how this team is going to perform from week to week. When the foundation of team cohesion isn't present, anything can happen. This team could very well lose every remaining game this year. We could have a "Cam Cameron, Volume II" here.

Even when the team started 0-7 in 2011, the team was still playing hard... And then they started winning some games once Moore came in. I wish the team would have quit on Tony that year completely. If they had, we might have Luck here.

Unfortunately, there was one particular man with a huge heart on that team, and he now plays for Detroit.

My favorite Reggie Bush moment is still the time when he came out and said "we stink and we all signed on the dotted line, so instead of crying about it I'm going to go bust my ass to win some games." And then he told Yeremiah Bell to shut the **** up when Bell said "we don't stink." And then Reggie went out and had some good football games.

Water under the bridge, I suppose.

Joe is not a leader of men nor does he give the team an intellectual advantage.

True. And Philbin was instrumental and getting him off the team.

Philbin is a lost cause. We should have known when he had to use cue cards to give a victory speech during our 3 wins... If that looks strange to us, imagine how that looks to the players!

I'm starting to think this team really needs Gruden. Ya, he chews ass, but he is charismatic and has a strong personality and a Super Bowl pedigree. Players will respect him enough, at least initially until a winning culture can be established.

Give me Jay if we are going for a Gruden. If you want respect from the players, you don't want Jon. He was absolutely loathed by his players in Tampa. Remember when they had to bench Keyshawn Johnson for several games because of insubordination?

And Derrick Brooks and others have some absolutely incredibly awful things to say about the way he treated them. Be careful what you wish for.

And you've been waiting a year to be able to say that.

Not saying I disagree, but how Philbin adjusts is going to determine whether you are right. It's not how you act when things are going well, it's how you adjust when things are going bad

I think Gruden wears thin after awhile if the team isn't winning consistently, but initially the team bought in. To be honest, I think his TV gig may have softened him a bit. I don't think he will be as dictatorial if he comes back to coaching, but I could be wrong.

It's not just that. Guys have absolutely loathsome things to say about him. He is viewed as being dishonest and unethical by many of his former players. Google it up, he is really, really unpopular with former Bucs.

But, if we hired him this offseason I probably wouldn't be too upset.

If we did, you can expect Jay Gruden to be our OC. The reason he isn't coaching anywhere in college right now is that he wants his brother on his staff. Da U told him no, Tennessee refused to buy out Jay's contract, ect

Based on talks with many Dolphins players this week, I would not describe team in "shambles", as source suggested to @adamhbeasley.

I think you may be understating things .... Hiroshima is probably more like it.

I would love that. I would sign up for that, Gruden's warts and all. I think Jay Gruden is bigtime.
