The party's over for Philbin and company

I remember when philbin got hired, I wasn't too impressed. I thought he looked like he was about 60 years too old and didn't really give him a chance. I remember wanting a number of other younger guys. Or at least younger looking guys. I warmed up to him pretty quick though, and have really started to back the guy. this is a strange deal for me. I am starting to wonder if my gut instinct wasn't spot on... I hope this **** gets turned around in a hurry.

I wish this team would be proactive for once maybe we would win more football games instead of just reacting to everything...

Many of us noticed some things about the regime during Hard Knocks that could pose some trouble if a winning tradition wasn't established immediately.

The reaction to Ocho, the reaction to the leadership council, the OCD gum wrapper cleanups...

Some loved the "old school" no nonsense approach, but others warned it could be trouble down the road... I think now we are seeing the trouble.

When things start to go bad for a disciplinarian coach with no charisma that doesn't have a track record of success, they tend to go REAL bad...

Unlike with Sparano where the team started to rally for him late in seasons, even when he looked on the outs, I don't see this team doing that for Philbin... The cracks are showing, and the dam is about to burst...

The Martin situation seems to be the final catalyst. I would be VERY surprised if Philbin and Co managed to salvage this season.

I have never got the feeling that players here were all to fond of him or the staff. Even the Sparano was proven to be inept, it was apparent that players loved him and fought for him... I don't see that same fight for Philbin.

TBVH i dont know where some of you guys are getting this from.. Its the complete opposite. The team flat out quit on Sparano at the end of the 2010 season and into the 2011 season. Do you guys remember Long laughing straight in his face on the sidelines? How about when NE destroyed us 38-7 in 2011 it was clear that the team completely quit. Those are just two examples but there are many more.

If they completely quit on him, why did they mount a winning streak after a hopeless 0-7 record?

Maybe some players didnt but alot of them did. Long and Dansby both did and they were part of that leadership council. Players are still going to try to play hard because their jobs are on the line but regardless all I had to see was Long laughing right in Sparano's face on the sidelines to know many on the team gave up. Besides, how can they respect a guy who cries to the refs begging them for a review on a TD and yells to the refs, "If you dont review this we're all going to lose our f*****g jobs". Sparano actually did say that to one of the refs. However, I can see this current team giving up on Philbin sooner than they gave up on Sparano although I would have never thought that was possible.

The man raised a son who ran around raping teenage girls for heaven's sake (and went to prison BTW). What the hell does he know about being a leader of men. I am sure Officer DuBois in Green Bay Wisconsin doesn't think he is.

Say what?

Say what?

A story about his deceased son was leaked shortly after his death. Apparently he was accused of sexually assaulting a girl who was passed out at a party.

Probably not the best thing to bring up now though. Not really fair to Philbin, and he has had to deal with unspeakable tragedies. Not our place to judge his parenting when we don't know anything about it.

This I didnt hear about. Well regardless I certainly wouldn't attack his parenting skills but as a head coach he is failing.

I bring it up because I am sick and tired of these hypocrite coaches questioning the characters of players and in Philbin's case getting rid of good players like Bush, Bess and Burnett who were good players with good work ethic. All they did wrong was SUGGEST that the coach give them a chance to talk to any player who may be slipping through the cracks. And for that the B#@*h sent them packing.

Hey, I'm with you. I dont think Philbin is the right coach for this team. But I also don't think we should be digging up such personal stuff on him. His failings as a coach are apparent enough.

He wasn't accused he was convicted and served time.
