The party's over for Philbin and company

He just got a big one tonight. I dont think Joe is in trouble. I think Jeff Ireland squarely is. Dawn Aponte following joe around and basically staying clear of Ireland.

Right, remind us when you had a minority stake on the team, and know this to be a fact. Man, you Ireland haters crack me up.

Not a whole lot has changed despite tonight's win. Tonight reminds me of back in 2003 when we came back to beat the Redskins and everyone was in love with Dave Wannstedt and Jay Fiedler that night and talking about how they saved the season.

We still went 10-6 that year and had a dominant win against a playoff bound Cowboys team the following week. The season was very much in play at that point, but we lost to two outstanding teams in NE and Philadelphia to miss the playoffs. Either way, we're 4-4 right now, so there's plenty of time to make it IF we play good football.

Philbin should be given 3 seasons to make is stamp on the team, not half that time. There have been some really promising things this year, our 1st round QB (yes the first since Marino) is showing good signs of developing into a good QB, we have much improved receiving options for him, we are taking advantage of some of the versatility of our players (Clay, Egnew, etc.), our oline is starting to show signs of being decent. In terms of player development look at the 2nd year players, Tannehill, Vernon, Matthews, Egnew, Shelby all greatly improved from last year. Certainly everything isn't rosy in the garden, but there are enough signs for me to have patience.

I've had enough talking with dolphin fans.

THe same **** 10 years ago, the same **** now.

"FIRE EVERYONE!" is the same chant I have heard down here in Miami every year. No patience. Now Philbin has to go?

this fanbase is completely clueless and deranged. Keep changing head coaches like you change your underwear, then wonder why you haven't reached a SB in 30 years. it's so boring.

we have no offensive line, that's philbin fault? We are 4-4..... 2 games behind 1st place. With no O-Line and a 2nd year QB, allowing a ton of sacks. What do you want? For us to be 6-2 ?????

And if we had an O-Line, we would be what? 7-1 or 8-0 ?

im just done. dolphin fans are the worst. always clamoring for someone's firing.

To be fair, I don't miss any of the people we've fired over the past 10 years.

So, which of those coaches and gms that fans were clamping to get fired ever amounted to anything after Miami?

The only one who did was Saban, and no one wanted him fired, most viewed him as the messiah, he just quit himself.

Might as well get rid of them a year early than a year late. The thing that really set us back is not that we get rid of guys too frequently, it's that we don't recognize early enough when a guy isn't up to snuff so we keep them around too long to do more damage!

I can almost guarantee right now that d the Dolphins keep Philbin after a 7-9 season, 2014 will be a wasted season and we will be starting all over in 2015.

ive come back to this thread much later but confused on my hatred for Ireland. I actually think he is doing a good job. I am completely on record saying Sherman is prob #1. Philbin is his guy which could spell trouble in the future.

Still think all this is overreaction. Gotta wait till end of season IMO. I dont control Ireland's fate, the owner does, and if we dont make playoffs, then someone takes the dagger for the team.

will you be back to remind us you were wrong if this doenst happen? beating Cincy was huge and now our schedule becomes a little easier logistically and talent/injury/depth wise.

Sure. I came back to this thread when they beat Cincy, didn't I? My stance won't change. Make it to the playoffs, Philbin proven me wrong and he buys himself some time. Fail to make the playoffs and it's time to pack bags because he isn't cut out for this gig.

We are a young team with talent and depth that can get us there. It all comes down to RT really. I think everyone pretty much agreed to that before this season but things happen and then we lose focus. RT needs sherman to protect him with different formations using TE's. We did barely any of that until recently and Gibson gone may be forcing the issue.

Some things here that may change the outlook of this team for the better.

Wallace gets on track with this offense and we design some long ball stuff that is bound to work. misdirection, playaction, flea flicker, ect ect.

lamar Miller keeps this 5 ypc going and also become more reggie bush like in passing game.

Egnew becomes a legitimate force in blocking and passing. The last two games he has caught two big plays for first downs and is becoming Charles Clay by playing multiple positions.

RT uses his RB's in the flat. He is not finding open recievers at times and if he just turns around and dumps, we have a nice gain for 1st down.

Defense keeps turning the ball over for big plays.

Sturgis actually hits every FG he should from 45 yds and in.
