Something I heard on the radio as well. Kind of a elbow to the ribs of us Dolphin fans who looked forward to a positive FA period. I'm not sure how these teams who have bigger cap issues than Miami can be so aggressive while Miami who had considerable cap space sits on our hands. I didn't expect the Dolphins to win a Championship this year but thought closing the gap between them and the Pats was very achievable. Not so sure now.

the gap between us and the patriots will close when tom brady retires

Argghhh. You, just know they are going to pull that off some how! They've been lacking that deep threat, big playmaker at WR for a few years. Lets not even mention his ability to return kicks. Bottomline, not good for the division at all!

What the patriots did and continue to do have no effect on my outlook of the dolphins FA period. Patriots are always very effective in FA because they already have a winning organization and identity. FA is more suited for teams in that position, and FA does not tend to take teams like the Dolphins "over the hump". That is done through draft and QB play....

Damn...

Pats got Edelman back, Revis in FA and possible D. Jackson on a trade?

Looks like Brady and Bilicheat are doing everything they can to collect a couple more rings before Brady rides off into the sunset.

Pats have about $8 million in cap space, which is likely reserved for the rookie salary pool. How are they going to be able to squeeze Jackson's $10.5 million base salary under their cap this year, and give up at least a 3rd round pick.

Eh, they just made a phone call to see what it would take to get him, but so did half the NFL. It appears to me that much like the Broncos, the Pats have seen the writing on the wall & know their future HOF QB will soon be put to pasture. They are trying to make one more big run.

On the other hand I dont know if Brady has the arm anymore to take advantage of Djax's speed much like Peyton with Thomas.

Release Wilfork opens up $8

Probably re-work Jackson's contract a bit.

Wilfork release rumors and D. Jax trade rumors....kind of adds up.

Brady still has PLENTY of arm!! Besides, the deep ball is usually more about timing than just pure arm strength anyways.

Man, I would love to have DJAX, he has been a playmaker since day one!! I am amazed at how many "PLAYMAKERS" have been let go during free agency, and we have yet to grab one. I think we have got some good quality players in FA, but man, if you get a chance to nab a true playmaker, i.e. Steve Smit and DJAX,, you gotta get them.

I only care about my team.

I remember the panic on this forum a few years ago when the Eagles were signing every FA to assemble the dream team while the Fins remained silent. How did that work out?

The Pats will be the Pats until we beat them straight up for the division so I don't care who they sign.

Jackson played for $750K in 2012 so he could get paid this year. I doubt a guy who has publicly complained about his contract his entire career will forfeit his payday, which by the way is already guaranteed.

And its also been reported that Wilfork's public request to be released was a negotiating tactic. And it appears to be working since the NE fanbase is pissed about it....
