-We cant run pass plays over twenty yards because his passes are horrible looking wounded ducks.

-If we are behind by a couple scores it is tougher to come back because his drives chew more time.

-no shotgun.

-no chance for the deep quick strike.

-On longer third down conversion attempts we have to throw underneath and hope the receiver can make up the difference.

So basically every one else has to play perfect to compensate for Chad and allow us to be successful. The defense can't really make one mistake even if they are tired, the line can't cause any penalties, and the running backs have to be awesome on a shortened crowded field. As tough as the competiton is in the NFL its hard enough with all weapons firing, let alone trying to do it shortchanged or handicapped. What is the logic throwing away season after season on injured vets? At least get a healthy one(spend the money or trade) if that is the route we want to go and feel like Beck and Henne aren't ready.

Jets had to suffer all year last year because of that. It's rather surprising you guys didn't take a notice, and even paid him to play for you. Does this mean McCown sucked that bad?

I'm sure McCown did suck that bad. Pennington wasn't that bad today and we don't have a QWB on our roster who could carry the team. I think we did OK against what will prove to be a very good football team. Time will tell.

I feel that the Jets stacked the line knowing that when our receivers came open Pennington can't throw the ball far enough.

I feel that maybe we should have a 2 QB system with Henne going in for the long ball and having him throw short every once in a while to mix it up.

I was actually thinking abut this during our last mintue drive. I was thinking how we seem to be handicapped on the fact that we cannot or don;t have any quick striking plays.

Pennington's drives do seem to consume some clock, only because he can;t seem to throw deep balls. HOWEVER, he seems to compensate that we his ability to manage a drive. He was poised and knew how to run the 2 minute drill with ease. As he chewed up clock, he also manegd to chew up yards.

The inability to run the shotgun is not his fault, it's the system.

We had a chance to the very last minute.

everybody who watches the nfl knew Penny's limitations. Why would you epect anything different in Miami.

I was thinking the same. Heck I was thinking on the intended flea flicker with Ricky that Penny should have been flipping it to Ricky and let him throw.

chad does this to people. he starts talking about his improved mechanics...and how he's finally had an offseaosn where he could just throw and not worry about rehabbing...and people want to believe. i'm just glad this crap is your problem now and i don't have to worry about it affecting the jets anymore. all chad did recently was play just well enough to keep the jets from moving on.

Pennington's limitations did not lose this game. The fact that we could not establish the run and get R&R involved in a meanigful way was our downfall.

And what stopped you from establishing the run? Do you really, REALLY think Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams just flubbed when they had miles of space in front of them?

i think all your points are right on,i have real concern about the arm strength issue

its just sad that pennington cant throw the ball more than 45 yards and my friends little brother who is a freshman in hs can throw it 55 yards. pennington has a high school arm and i never liked the move. he had a decent game but we need the element of surprise and he cant give us that. i just hope henne is almost ready cause i cant wait for him 2 become our starter.

Worse part of Pennington is that, since he is so devoid of arm strength, teams can stack up the box with reckless abandon, yet Pennington just can't make the D pay. The end result is your running game suffers. Big time.

In short: You can establish your running game, IF and ONLY IF you have all-pro quality OLs at all 5 position, and they are all in their primes. (Who can't do that?) Unless you get that going, Pennington's limitation will come back to haunt the team all year. There's a reason Jets got rid of Pennington almost immediately, once a possiblity to replace him with better one loomed ahead.

Not really sure what you are trying to say here but what stopped us from establishing the run was superior line play by the Jets... They won the battles at the line of scrimmage. We became one dimensional allmost immediately.
