Knowing the history of our Miami Dolphins and the stupidity associated with the ownership... I'm predicting Ross with give Joe Philly Cheesesteak another year to "right" the ship.... But since the only thing us fans can do is hope and pray... lets play around with your perfect coaching combo...

For me... I love the energy of Jon Gruden... but he just locked himself up with ESPN for the next 8 years or so... Which now leads me to admire the bull-headedness of Cowhen

I'm ok with giving Lazor another year... I believe he has the mindset of someone that is creative and can do good things... and I also see him as being severly handicapped by our offensive roster and the god aweful front line... Give his QB a little more protection and I believe he can draw up a more down field gameplan..

Rex Ryan for defensive coach... I never liked him as the HC of the Jets.. maybe it was biased because its a NY team.. or maybe its because of his mouth and foot fetish... but I think he completely understands the workings of the defensive scheme..

Whats your dream coaching team?

Since you did not say current, I would go with; :d-day:
Don Shula Head Coach
Bill Arnsbarger Defensive Cor.
Bill Walsh Offensive Cor

I'd prefer Jim Harbaugh myself. But I don't think he'll want to leave the West coast and he'll want full control, which I don't think Ross will be willing to give that as well. So cross him off. Gruden makes too much money with ESPN and almost no stress or extra hours, he won't give that up. Cross him off. Other suggested proven coaches not currently employed such as Cowher are also highly unlikely to come back after living the good life of commentator. Cross them off the list. Rex might be a decent Def Coord, but not head coach and I'm not sure his ego will allow him to step back right away. I see him and some other coaches getting fired taking a year off to drum up business as HC in 2 years. That leaves a bunch of OC or DC candidates or even a college coach or two. We've seemed to go down that path countless times with little/no success and I'm sure that's crossing Ross's mind as well. In the end I see him keeping Philbin or promoting Lazor. I'm worried once again where our FO is going to take us because of another bad choice we had to settle for.

You had me all the way up to: Bill Arnsbarger Defensive Cor.

The guy bent and broke too many times in the big game when everything mattered... Also Shula's loyalty to him was incomprehensible...

Harbaugh is all but an Oakland Raider...

Bill Arnsbarger had a great track record in Miami as Defensive Coordinator.

His defense was in the top 5 scoring allowed in 9 of his 12 seasons and number 1 in 3 of those seasons.
His lowest scoring ranking was 15th of 28 in his 1st season back after failed head Coaching gig.
Shula took him back and he slowly upgraded the defense back to #1 in 1983

I think you are thinking of Olivandoti

Arnsparger was a great DC. In 1983 he had us back to being the Number 1 ranked D in the league (in points allowed). After 1983 he left. In 1984 Marino exploded with that offense and we lost the Super Bowl to San Fran. I will always wonder if Arnsparger had stayed just one more year how that Super Bowl in 1984 would have gone. Alas....

Him and Shula were a good combo and I don't think he ever got enough credit. He finally got Shula back in that 1994 playoff game against Chargers. Arnsbarger's defense held the Dolphins scoreless in the second half and it was the Chargers that went to Super Bowl instead of Fins. The Dolphins should have paid to keep Arnsbarger. Getting rid of him back fired both times.

Wow!!! I thought it was not possible, but someone that did not like Arnsbarger. Arnsbarger was one of the best D-Coordinators in that time, if he had continued to stay on during most of the Marino years, nobody would be talking about Marino and never winning the superbowl.

Now that's a dream

I think he must have Arnsbarger confused with Tom Olividotti.

The point is moot. Buddy Ryan is better at DC than Arnsparger anyway.

Dream coaching staff...

Belichick HC
Chip Kelly OC
Chuck Pagano DC

But Buddy was not that much better the Arnsparger that a team would risk his cancer personality dividing over someone like Bill Arnsparger, who just did his job, and rarely threw anyone under the bus.

Oh and Belichick over Shula? Both in their prime....I will take that bet w/ Shula any day, and I rarely bet.

I don't agree. BR had liike about 9 pro bowlers in Chicago. Arnsparger didn't have that. He coahed his defense to achieve a lot more. I n topp of it Ryan was a jerk just like his son.
