who else but the coordinator could bring you the goods like this?

yesterday vs the pats when ricky and ronnie were in the backfield together, 2 times ronnie lined up at FB and we ran kind of a quick FB trap to ronnie. the first time it went for 10 yards or so, the 2nd time i think around 3-4.

1st and goal at the 5. 50 secs left 2 timeouts. the very first play should have been whats commonly known around the league as 90 power toss.

we fake the quick trap handoff to ronnie lined up at full back and then pitch to ricky on the backside. we've ran variations of this play a few times this season already. it works every time.

it was the perfect play call yesterday in that situation and if we had ran it we would have scored.

It's easy to criticize now, but I agree that we should have ran the ball on first down at least.

they're professionals. they get paid alot of money and there is no excuse for them not to run this play after it was set up earlier in the game. they completely blew it. there is no 2nd guessing here. this is first guessing. the only 2nd here is the 2nd week in a row the game was on the line and we put the ball in the hands of our worst player on offense.

You think its gonna change? Its been the same crap every damn week. Linehan wants every game to look like he was a genius and Saban for whatever reason won't change the plays.
...so here we are again.

i thought they were setting that up with the 3 runs they did with ronnie from the FB position...

thats another thing with linehan that i feel he could do better... use plays to set up other plays... with the amount of times we ran the reverse early in the season why would we not run more runs with the WR coming around to try to freeze a DE or a LB? why not run that power toss after 3 runs with ronnie from the FB spot setting up that run? why not a slant route instead of another fade route in the endzone on second down rather than the fade route again?

I have been wondering about that very play for a while now....its been pretty successful every time they've ran it...I remember them running it in the preseason with really good results as well.

I think they should've run the dive with Ronnie again on 1st down, a pass on 2nd, and then the power toss to Ricky on 3rd.

But yeah, as many times as they ran that dive to Ronnie, I was thinking even earlier in the game that we'd see the toss to Ricky. The fact that we didn't run AT ALL from the 6 yardline is just ridiculous. Was it me or did Linehan make the same mistake two weeks in a row?

i still dont understand why they tried the same ridiculous fade pattern to Booker in the sunlight 2 times in a row rather then run it ONCE.

its 1st and goal on the 5 yard line....... i bet my life, that if you run the ball with ronnie brown aganst a rushing defense attack ranked 27th all 4 downs you would have scored a td...........

THE END on that subject bad offensive calling

and GUS still sucks ya he had 360 yards but people the man threw the ball 47 times you better have ova 300+ yards if your gonna throw that many times......

we are a running team, we are they passing as if we still have the dan the man at qb.... i just don't get it

play calls

1st down: 4 wide formation, slip motion, delayed draw to RB
2nd down: 2 tightend, i formation, single reciever, quick slant pass
3rd down: 3 wide formation, motion, counter run
4th down: 2 tightend, tight slot w motion, 36 lead

OR

1st down: I right, fade left
2nd down: I right, fade left
3rd down: Blitz checkoff to back, against man coverage -5 yds
4th down: Blitz read vs blitz, force to Chambers slanting

Anything else would be better than two fades with recievers looking into the Sun.

That's what I thought as well. I kept thinking that the next time, they're going to flip it to Ricky. But it never happened. With the way Ricky was running compared to Ronnie though, it may not have been a bad idea to keep it with Ronnie.

Personally I hate running a toss inside of the 10 just b/c it puts you back another 5 yds right from the beginning. Much more of a chance that you could go further away from the endzone. And it was shown when Miami decided to throw that dumb screen five yds back on 3rd down. But it is easy to say how dumb the call is after they didn't work, if something worked, it would have been a great call.

Same here. :D

the thing i hate is telegraphing the fact that you are passing.

every other team either tries to run it or looks to their TE on play-action. WHY NOT US!?!?!?!?

After the first fade route, the second had slant TD written all over it, the DB played so far off. Would have been nice if Gus would have checked that and made an audible
