After watching four weeks of the NFL, i go to say that the phins main strength is how physical it plays on both sides of the ball, saban said it when he said he wants teams to not want to play the dolphins, our opponents need to pack their medical kits when they play us

One of the reasons we are such a physical team is the fact that Saban doesn't make them beat on each other during the week in practice. We have a fresh team that is ready to hit come Sunday.

agreed. they are quite physical. they will become even more so, in about 8 days. back by sabans demand and honestly only sababn had the presense of mind to not let the feelings of the fans myself included. stop him from bringing ricky back. thank you for being smarter than us nick. no more dreads and a uglybeard. wow! this is fixin to get purty ugly!

I was just thinking this after looking at Insider at the official homepage where Saban says "We are going to be physical, and teams are gonna hate to play us"! That fired me up big time! I believe it was the press conference when he was hired...its in the insider if you want to listen, dont have a link.

And you look at the teams we have played. DEnver- Bailey banged up good and a couple others for denver and RB's did squat + Plummer felt it when he was done. On the sideline wipeing his face in disgust and pain.

Then there was NY Jets. they won the battle but lost the war! Pennington was already banged up and we made him feel it more, then the next week he is done! Curtis Martin also was banged up.

Carolina. Stephen Davis was hurtin and Delhomme certainly felt the pain (in his chest and his ego). No doubt we are a physical team. I think the AFC East is about to be owned by a team who is very very physical.

Being Physical does have a toll on both parties involved: the hitter and the target. What works in our favor is that we have interchangable parts in several important areas where we can rotate people in and save repetitative hits. Our O-line is a constant revolving door, the Defensive ends have good depth with Bowens and Roth. The Linebackers, assuming Junior is fine to play, also has great depth with Sprague and Moore. The runningbacks and recievers are talented and with the addition of Ricky will provide great depth. Our biggest injury has been to our punter.

ClaytonDuper... understand your premise, but the oline is not a revolving door. Last game the only line substitution, as I understand it was McDougle, for two series.

Bottlenose,

I meant to state that our o-line seems to have many fitting parts which can changed throughout the game. This strategy can come in useful when players are winded or a little banged up. We may not have any superstars on the o-line but we may now have some well coached blue-collar tough players.

It goes deeper than that, I believe. Sure, you're right about keeping a team fresh ready to hit. But consider this: Imagine you're a starting LB in the Miami Dolphins, and you're under Saban's 'no hit' policy. Wouldn't you be itching to deliver the wood the next chance you get during a game?

I believe he keeps the team fresh and hungry for hitting.

Just from Sabans fee-agent moves you could tell that was the way he was going...Traylor Carter Spragan T.Jones Holliday Mcdougle...He wanted Mashers at every postion. saban likes to keep punching teams in the mouth all game and in year one the Team is already getting good at it.

C&D Here is the depth chart.... http://www.phins.com/depth_chart.php
I know Hadnot can play center... but who plays left guard?
If James needed to go out of a game, Ephraim would play LG. We only have 2 reserve OL active for games and it has been Ephraim and McDougle every game so far. Berger and Alabi have been inactive on game day to this point.

You know this was the very first thing I noticed under the new regime. In that first game against Denver I just couldn't believe how hard our defense was hitting people. I haven't seen our defense look that mean in a long time. Guys like Jones, Schulters, Thomas, Crowder were getting some big time licks on people. Then even on offense our guys just took it too the denver defense.

The poster that mentioned that we don't beat up on eachother in practice is probably right. But I also think it has something to do with our new philosphy and some of our new harder nosed players.
