The Dolphins were in the market for a punter after they let Donnie Jones leave as a restricted free agent, so perhaps it was fitting that they would draft his potential replacement with the selection they got from the St. Louis Rams.

The Dolphins drafted Michigan State's Brandon Fields with the 225th overall selection, the seventh-round pick the Rams were forced to give up when Miami declined to match the Rams' offer sheet to Jones.
In Fields, the Dolphins get a punter with a big leg, as evidenced by Fields' nation-leading 47.4-yard average as a sophomore in 2004.
Fields' average dropped to 41.4 in 2005 and then 43.3 in 2006, but Fields explained the drop was a result of Michigan State coaches asking him to punt directionally to help out shaky coverage teams. One thing for sure, Fields doesn't look like a typical punter at 6-5, 240 pounds. Fields, in fact, played offensive and defensive lineman in high school. His first college coach at Michigan State, ironically, was Bobby Williams, the Dolphins' running backs...............

so he can punt, and then knock the crap out of the KR, i like it.
