It was my determination that Laremy Tunsil was the best player in the 2016 draft at the end of Bowl Season and the beginning of January. I had him as the #1 overall prospect. Post #19 here I talked briefly about it....

I figured he'd go #1 overall to the Titans if they stayed put. Titans traded down which opened the door for a quarterback to go 1st overall. Although I firmly believed Tunsil was still a lock to go top 5. I never....never even gave any thought to the idea of Tunsil being available for Miami at #13. That's just not possible.
However, what transpired last night is easily the strangest and most bizarre hour of an NFL draft that I've ever witnessed. Not necessarily because of all the chaos that surrounded Laremy Tunsil's social media accounts being hacked in front of millions of people on the night of his life. Or because of incredibly strange pictures surfacing of somebody who looked like they were expecting chemical warfare to break out while they smoked a bong. Or even watching the best player in the draft tumble out of the top 10.
The strangest thing of all was watching the Miami Dolphins of all teams, finally benefit from the panic of other teams. Of course it had to be under this strange of circumstances in order to happen. But it happened nonetheless.
After it all unfolded, Miami made the only pick that made sense. They had to take Tunsil.
This wasn't good drafting or good scouting, or outsmarting everybody else. Not even close. We're going to find out if they're actually any good at drafting over the next 2 days. Miami just got lucky to end up with Tunsil. It's the 12 other teams that picked prior that forced this pick for Miami, not Miami.
Now, it's up to Laremy Tunsil to determine how good Laremy Tunsil is going to be. He should be motivated beyond belief to go out and prove himself after last night. If last night doesn't motivate him to come out and be the dominant player that he can be, then there's obviously a problem.
This kid is really one of the most naturally gifted offensive lineman that I've ever broken down. He doesn't even have to try. He makes it look easy. Tunsil's feet, balance, and frame allow him to coast through games. Even when the best pass rushers college football has to offer are lined up across from him. He's been a great player for Ole Miss from the day he walked on campus. He battled some injury issues, but Tunsil fulfilled his immense promise for the Rebels. No question.
All he has to do now is stay clean and focus. If he does that, he'll be representing Miami in the pro bowl every single year.
What Miami's coaches need to do, is make sure he's influenced by the Cam Wakes, Jarvis Landrys and Ja'Wuan James inside that locker room, and not the Mike Pounceys.
This is a grand slam pick for the Dolphins. Even if it doesn't workout, Miami has nothing to lose. Nobody can ever blame Miami for this pick in my opinion. They had to pick this player. This isn't even comparable to the Jake Long pick in 2008. This is entirely different for several reasons.
