A lot of people are using the argument that since only Seattle and Miami were interested in Matt Flynn, he's obviously not good and we should be thrilled that Miami didn't sign him. Nonsense. Bottom line, there are only a few teams actually looking for a starting QB this offseason. Think about it:

Cowboys - Romo
NYG - Manning
Redskins - RGIII
Eagles - Vick

Bucs - Freeman
Falcons - Ryan
Saints- Brees
Panthers - Newton

Bears - Cutler
Lions - Stafford
Vikes - Ponder
Packers - Rodgers

Niners - Smith/Manning
Seattle - FLYNN
Cards - Kolb/Manning
Rams - Bradford

Jets - Sanchez
Pats - Brady
Bills - Fitzpatrick
Dolphins - NO ONE

Colts - Luck
Titans - Locker/Manning
Texans - Schaub
Jags - Gabbert

Ravens - Flacco
Steelers - Roethlisberger
Bengals - Dalton
Browns - Flynn??

Broncos - Tebow/Manning
Chargers - Rivers
Raiders - Palmer
Chiefs - Cassel

So, maybe only the Chiefs, Browns, Seattle, or Miami would actually have a use for Flynn. So let's stop saying there are so many teams in need of a starting QB and no one wanted Flynn. It's not true.

I for one am happy with having Matt Moore play this season, I feel comfortable with the guy. What I am worried about is our D and giving up HUGE!!!!!!!!! plays, S. Smith cant cover ****... V.Davis is injury prone our Safety Bell leads the team in tackles every year concern wear are our LBs.......... We need a Safety answer L. Laundry.........we need another DB that isnt scared to get physical because S. Smith gets pushed around like a little kid. and we need Dansby to start earning that big contract we gave him.

You don't seem to understand - Flynn is a top 5-10 quarterback and Miami already has one of the 12 best qb's in the league

Matt Flynn blows dude. Be glad he went to Seattle.

I am not saying we were not interested. I am just saying we were not interested in giving him a huge contract and I trust Philbin on that.

teams that can easily upgrade, and if flynn was so good, these teams would have at least showed some interest.

jaguars, browns, broncos assuming they dont get manning, chiefs, raiders( i know they have palmer and gave a lot up for him, but palmer is not that good, and flynn being a young potential franchise qb, why not at least look) and us.

even if u dont want to count some of those teams, teams like the jaguars, browns, even chiefs can almost certainly use an upgrade, and if they showed no interest, their has got to be a reason.

the thing is, many people just wanted to change qbs for the sake of change. can we use an upgrade from moore? very possibly, but keyword is ''upgrade''. u dont just go get a crappy qb to say u changed qbs, u should actually try and get a true legit upgrade.

peyton would have no doubt been an upgrade, hes a top 5 qb of all time, and even today, hes still better than most qbs despite his possible health. any other qb, garrard, flynn, smith, those are not ****ing upgrades really.

whats the worst possible thing that can happen this year? moore is signed for 1 year, 2 million i believe, if somehow he leads us deep into the playoffs, we think about a new contract, and worst thing, he blows, hes off the books anyway and we go all in for barkley. flynn would have been a waste, and so would alex smith.

I am not sure what Philbin has done to earn our trust at this point. And once and for all, we have no idea what the inner workings of this situation were. For all we know, Philbin may have gone to Ireland and Ross and said "I want Matt Flynn as my starting QB", and Ross and Ireland may have said "Sorry, we want Peyton Manning, and if we don't get him, we can't free up the cap space for Matt Flynn since his name isn't Peyton Manning." No one knows. I know one thing, Philbin and the Packers thought enough of Flynn that they chose him as Aaron Rodgers' backup. If Rodgers went down, they were ready and willing to put Flynn in the lineup and try to win games. They could have tried to upgrade at backup QB over the past few years, especially considering Rodgers has had a few concussions, but they didn't do that. A Super Bowl contender was comfortable with Matt Flynn being one play away from being their starting QB. That means plenty to me.

The Jaguars gave up a lot to move up and draft Gabbert. They are not going to give up on him after one season of play with an injury-depleted team. And the Raiders are NOT in the market for a QB. They gave up a ton to get Palmer and he just restructured his contract to give the Raiders cap relief. No way they would move on from him after less than a full season under center.

I included the Chiefs as one possible team, and the Browns. But the Browns are in a position to draft Tannehill if they would like to, and they have a young QB in Colt McCoy that has never had any weapons to play with. Maybe they want to stick with him.

Bottom line, there was never going to be 10 teams lining up to meet with Matt Flynn. That was a bogus scenario created by the media after his 480 yard, 6 TD performance against the Lions. The overwhelming majority of NFL teams are happy with their current QBs, and two teams (the Colts and the Redskins) have access to two of the best QB prospects coming out of college in years.
