I don't know what to think. Are we that bad off if he walks? We'll have to draft a RT.

Agent: Vernon Carey likely to walk

by Brian Biggane
With two weeks until the Dolphins either get deals done with their free agents or face the prospect of losing them, an agent offered his opinion Friday that they’ll opt to allow offensive tackle Vernon Carey to test the market.

The 9 mil is what he would get paid if we franchised him, if we sign him to a long term deal it wont cost that much

personally i hope we sign him.... if we can battle in FA with the values other teams are giving awesome!!! but if we can't resign him i may say, yes we are pretty bad off. he was a very solid RT, a very good one at that!!! to bring in one through a draft, a young one, and i not overly fond of many in the draft, will be tough to start on an o-line that is already young and has not played overly long together!!!

What this sounds like is that the organization thinks he is above average
and is not worth the money he wants. They also might like a Tackle in the
draft like Michael Oher or Ebon Britton maybe. We'll just have to WAIT and see!

I am anxious so WAITING is boring as many of you may agree

but its just another hole on our team. the high pick we'll have to use on a RT could be used on something like a CB or DT. i would be disappointed with the FO if they let carey walk.

I dont care if its Carey or anybody else... How long has it been since we started the same 5 lineman for 2 years in a row. I mean OL is probably the position that relies the most on team work and we've been playin tetris with them for a decade now. Its time to make it happen, GIVE THAT MAN HIS MONEY!

agreed NBP81!! we cant afford to let him walk. it would be like taking one step forward with jake then two steps back. if parcells and co are really that smart they will give him what he wants so he stays!!!

I believe he'll still be a Dolphin. Its fairly early in the process, there's still two weeks of negotiation left to go.

Keep in mind people that this just an agent, not Carey's agent. This guy is just offering his opinion and has no inside info on the real negotiations.

Franchise him and if you can't get a deal done before the draft we could do 1 of two things 1st try to trade him for a couple of picks (2nd & 4th to be conservative) or 2nd draft a OT high and let him learn for a year and step in next year.

I do not think we inmprove our team by letting carey and Crowder walk. Two actual players that we drafted and have done fairly well. I hope we find a way to keep both players. We are not going to upgrade anymore by overpaying other players that are not better than them. Lets not act like we never over pay or try to Overpay. We were not exactly far from Pace's offer from the Jets last year.

Well if he goes he will have to walk since he was so overweight this past season he could hardly run. If they do agree to terms they dang sure better have a weight clause in the contract.

I would let his big out of shape bloated rearend walk. He NEVER comes to camp in shape and showed up at like 365 pounds last year so I question his dedication to football or himself. He isn't worth big $$$. Let him walk.

Vernon could've been a darn good player at one time if he kept his weight around 315-320 but he doesn't have the drive to do it. I personally think the guy is flat out lazy.
