It's called the pounding of the NFL. It's not easy to stay healthy.

I heard that the average career in the NFL is 4 years. If that's true that's crazy.

Aside from his loss of mobility, I gotta believe that Daunte's downward spiral also has a little something to do with him becoming his own agent. His ego has really led him to lot of bad business desicions.

What bad business decisions?

His two contracts he did were fairly smart. He has definately done something to get somewhat blackballed maybe as his own agent but of the facts we know he made no worse decsions than anyone else.

Looks like they both have eaten a lot of Mickey D's....two of the biggest rear ends in the NFL belong to Culpepper and Leftwich.

Actually I believe I saw Leftwich playing in a Steelers uniform the other night against Minnesota. Don't know if he's the backup or 3rd string though behind Big Ben.

Leftwich's downfall was he was absolutely immobile. He took way too many sacks (and Jax has a very good OL). None of our QBs are scramblers, but Leftwich makes John Beck look like Steve Young in comparison.

Daunte just wasn't ready when he was with us, and many on the outside felt he had a poor attitude after his benching (I don't remember), and outside of running against us, he looked horrible in Oakland.

What bad business desicions? It's those desicions that are keeping him at home playing Madden 2002, and not getting ready for the 2008 season on an NFL roster. At this point in his career, pretty much all 32 teams view Daunte Culpepper as a backup. You know who doesn't view Daunte Culpepper as a backup? Daunte Culpepper, the agent. The fact that Culpepper has been unwilling to swallow his ego, and accept the facts that this is where he is in his NFL career, is the biggest reason as to why he is STILL unemployed. Two weeks before kickoff, and he's jobless.

Daunte had a chance to go to Green Bay and backup Aaron Rodgers for a decent salary. Instead, he insisted, and pretty much demanded that he should be allowed to compete for the starting job. Packers management pretty much laughed at him, and told him to go home. His massive ego and his overflated sense of worth is keeping him out of a job. Somebody needs to get into Daunte's ear and tell him to put away the agent's hat. His ego and pride is getting in the way of good business desicions, he needs to swallow his pride and accept reality for what it is.

maybe but reportedly the offer was a 1 year 1 million dollar offer. even for Culpepper that seems like lowballing. Its probably not worth it to even play for that low amount. He should still have plenty of money. I think he is content to wait on an injury and have a chance to be in a good situation. That may not come. You can argue that he is no worse than Trent Green who got decent money and has sucked badly this preseason and the last two years. I personally think the Jags should have signed him to the contract that They signed Lemon to with incentives. I would take Culpepper anyday over Lemon. No matter how much people here hate Pep there are worse qb's currently as backups. There seems to be some resentment towards Culpepper for whatever reason. He was the starting qb in 3 of the 4 wins that Oakland had last year and was far from awful so he should have a job somewhere.

I don't think either was an upper echelon QB- certainly not Leftwich. Culpepper at least had some great fantasy years but that had more to do w/ the talent around him and he'd always screw up in big games.
