the problems with dolphins is? they would have better record with top 10 qb?

The OL is the issue people...duh

It's more Philbin and his system than the o-line. How else can you explain why linemen that could block previously (maybe not dominant, but at least half-decent) now suck and can barely block at all? (I'm not counting Martin in this.) The linemen don't fit the system, so Philbin had 2 choices: replace players or change the blocking schemes. He did nothing but stand by and hope that they would improve in his system... yeah, he's a real leader!

You're flat out wrong. In order to run any scheme, the players have to first of all win their "one-on-one" matchups. Our players aren't. It is that simple. If you can't beat the guy in front of you...you aren't going to get anywhere. You can try to scheme for weaknesses, like they did when they started playing 6 or 7 lineman at the same time and trotted out Yeatman that one game, but they also knew that by the next week the team we played would have it figured out. You can only "scheme" so much to make up for crappy players.

And by the way, I am not a Philbin supporter. I just understand that there is little they can do with this bunch...

I'd just like to know why linemen that could block before, can no longer block (consistently) now. It isn't logical to think that every one of them magically forgot how to do their job (or just became bad) at the same time. Some of the same players have been here for a while, and they are worse this year than they were last year, and last year were not as good as the previous year under Sparano. They are fairly young, so age isn't an issue. The main difference is now they playing under a new staff with a new offensive scheme.

But, to look at it from your point of view, they were never really dominant so maybe they are just getting worse. It doesn't help that the RBs and TEs can't pick up blitzes, and the old regime did have a FB to help out and a good blocker in Fasano. Actually, maybe we're both right... the linemen just aren't that good, and the fact that Philbin doesn't want a FB, quality RBs, or someone like Fasano to help the o-line is not helping matters any. While I can't completely defend the o-linemen, I will say that I still believe that Philbin is the problem for not having the sense to place more importance on upgrading the o-line from year one to year two.

I disagree. Having better qb play would not help our team.

?? Really?? Please explain. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't be better if they had better QB play. I'm not saying QB play is our problem but EVERY team would be better with better QB play. Just like every team would be better with better coaching, or better OL play, or better defense.

There's not a top-10 QB that made the playoffs with less than 350 rushing attempts in a season in the last 4 years, actually not one single QB managed to do it. Fins are on pace to hit 336... QB is not at the top of the list of why we aint going to the POs, far from it actually...

It depends on how you want to define it, but if you look here:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating/year/2012

...you'll see that 7 of the top 10 QBs, as defined by QB rating, made the playoffs last year.

The year before:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating/year/2011

...8 of the top 10 made it.

well than that settles it... QB rating is the single definition of what makes a qb top ten or not top ten.

Like I said in the post you quoted, it depends on how you want to define it. You're certainly free to define it in your own way. :)

if dolphins had top ten qb. the dolphins would be in playoff.. the defense ask to do to much. offense line suck at time but we still should of win at lease 3 game more. the reason why team blist dolphins because they feel like tannerhill cant throw deep ball. he is good at throwing 10 to 20 yd pass in middle of field. for example Carolina cb couldn't cover deep ball. why run when u can score point deep. that game w blowout and we find away lose.

You shouldn't get thumbs down for this ... it's a fair question. I think we would be division leaders with a top 10 qb. Frankly, QB play around the league has been poor this year and there are several teams around the .500 mark that would be in much better shape with a top 10 qb.

Tannehill is playing below average ... yes I get he's still learning, I myself have made that argument in the past and I'm not intending on rehashing that, but it's a reality of life that if we had say ... Aaron Rogers or Drew Breeze we'd probably have at least 2 more wins.

I don't see why anyone would be upset about discussing this. Tanney may still become one, but at least for now, he's not there yet.

I certainly wouldn't say he's below average, since the performance of guys like Geno Smith, Chad Henne, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Christian Ponder, etc. is factored in to what constitutes average.
