Okay, so we all know the situation and the 3 QBs we have to work with. The question is: How many games (or how much gametime) is management willing to lose to get the 2 younger passers acclimated to the NFL game?

We have seen from his performance in Oakland that McCown can keep his team in games, even if his team sucks (which is fortunate for us!) With McCown, we have a chance to win many of our games this season.

However, if we are committed to getting Beck or Henne in the game and getting game reps, we have less of a chance to win (supposing Beck continues his play from last season and Henne isn't a freak of nature that can win instantly)

Now, hopefully a QB will make his mark in Camp and Preseason and get the majority of the playing time. If it is McCown, I hope he can finally get some recognition as a competent NFL QB. If it is Beck or Henne, I really hope they can prove me wrong and really show their quality.

I guess we will soon know if Coach Sparano was telling the truth about this being a season in which we are committed to winning, not rebuilding...

I think Beck will start . . . simply because he is extremely accurate, has a cannon and a quick release. The only think I'm worried about is his inability to make a decision and get rid of the ball quickly in the pocket . . . and its something he needs to improve on. McCown is not the answer, I'm sorry . . . I think he was a good pickup . . . but I just don't think he is the guy i want back there in the pocket. Now if he is balling, he is balling and needs to be the starter if he is the best man out there . . . but I just think these 2 inexperienced guys have too much promise not to lead this team THIS year.

I agree, McCown turns the ball over way too much, hes only had one season where hes thrown more td's then int's and it was only by one (11 TD 10 INT)

the miami herald is reporting that mccown is the heavy favorite to start right now so beck starting is getting shot to hell...

hmmmm, whoever it is will hopefully be handing the ball off to R and R, throwing quick bubble screens to ginn, hitting Fasano, martin, or peele on flags, and wilford and hagan on button hooks....... simple stuff that not even mccown could get picked off, beck could still fumble the snap though, henne could run this offense too.

In my experience the Miami Herald is one of the least accurate sources available. Traditionally, you'd be right more often by putting your money on the opposite of whatever they say.

All I don't like about Beck is watching him over and over again fumble the snap!!!! He can't even do the basics right. Until he does that I don't like him.

its not really the herald that is reporting it. the herald interviewed a few players who remained nameless who the best qb has been and they all answered: Josh McCown. i'm not sure if thats a good thing.

I want the QB to be whoever has the best grasp of the offense and the best understanding of the playbook. The guy who commits himself to studying film and preparing for an opponent. The QB that's not going to spin to his left to handoff when he should have turned to the right. The Qb that recognizes a defense and calls the proper audible and not have to burn a timeout. Give me the guy who tries the hardest, is the most commited, and is the best prepared, and things will turn out fine.

I think Beck will be that guy but only time will tell.

things are going to get really ugly around here when mccown is named the starter.

I tend to agree with you, but you never know. I'm pulling for Beck as well, but I would not be upset at all if McCown pulls a Gannon on us.

It changes every damn day. Remember, we shouldn't assume anything until you here out of Sparano's mouth. All of the 3 QB's have been reported to look the best at one time or another. Forget about the media BS..

:rolleyes2:

We haven't even had the first practice in pads yet and I gotta read comments like this. Geez I hate this time of year.

I'm not even going to try and explain why this is a silly conversation.
Those that know the game know why it is.

The winner of the starting QB competition is a long way from being decided.

Not only that but even when we decide on a qb there will still be alot of chances for the other 2 qb's
