I know what is not the reason. I know it isn't because aside from signing Suh, we basically ignored the defense in order to spend all of our resources shuffling around offensive linemen and wide receivers, to try and get our franchise QB performing.

Seriously. We traded up to draft Dion Jordan in the 1st round a few years ago. What more could we have asked the FO to do?

We already had a stud at safety in Jones. Throw the big money at Suh and we should have had a great defense. 1st round picks are for offensive linemen and wide receivers. No sense in having a franchise QB like Tannehill if you aren't going to try and get him the right protection and weapons. When they do not get the job done, just shuffle them around. Spend more 1st round picks and big money on those positions.

The defense just has to do better. Maybe we can trade some more mid level picks for players like Alanzo and Maxwell. That should get the job done. We need to keep making all of our FO decisions revolve around the fact that Ryan Tannehill is our franchise QB and if there are problems scoring points, it is clearly the fault of the OL and WRs that we invested in.

Well, an overpaid defensive line that doesn't care at all, a secondary full of "off the street" level talent mixed with the best unit on the team of linebackers who are serviceable if you have a good line and secondary doesn't make for a good mix.

Worst LB core in the NFL. Overpaid and overrated DL. Secondary full of guys who would be 3rd stringers on good teams.

Other than R. Jones and the D-Line (Whom are under-performing btw) the "D" is void of talent at too many spots. Not to mention no depth if an injury comes down, which they inevitably always do.

I know, right. And the reason for that has nothing to do with the lack of resources being used on the defensive personnel. Like I said, we drafted Dion Jordan in the 1st round several years ago. It isn't like the FO is ignoring the defense and trying to patch it together with sub par players in order to use all of our resources on offensive players. No way they are throwing everything into a black hole. No way. Ryan Tannehill is a franchise QB damnit!!!!

the D line would look a lot better if we could actually get some points and lead. These guys are going to have all time lows for sacks this year as its just so easy to run on us.

Extreme lack of talent? It needed a complete rebuilding instead of the bizarre patch job Tbum did. This isn't a good D. It's badly constructed. Amazing that Suh is being paid as much as he is when there's only one other legit nfl starter on this D

Old. Overpaid and they don't care. Jones is the only guy who cares.

We stay in the top 5 they will get a de top pick

Outside chance qb...but id still lean it will be de

Nothing else validates it

Because we have invested heavily in trying to build around a QB that has no feel for the game and is not the long term answer at QB. Doing so caused us to neglect the defense hence, I give you the 2016 Miami Dolphins.

I was talking to this one idiot the other day. He said he was a huge dolphins fan, but I don't believe him. He was bashing Tannehill. No real fan would do that.

Anyway, he had this ridiculous theory that because the Dolphins FO continued to believe in Tannehill, the constantly used the majority of their resources trying to make him into this player they wanted him to be. He said this caused the FO to over spend on offensive linemen, wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs, when it turned out they actually had some decent talent to work with at those spots already. He said it caused a constant turnover at those spots and in the coaching staffs. He went on to say that while sometimes they got rid of bad players, a lot of times they got rid of some moderately priced talent that would be fine if the QB played better.

That isn't all. He really lost me after that. He went on to say that the FO a lot of times was so inept, that they often replaced players with guys who weren't even as good, using a lot of cap space and good draft picks in the process. His whole theory is that the phins FO is spinning its' wheels, trying desperately to make something out of Tannehill when he just isn't an NFL quality QB. Lunacy, I know.

His point was that after a few years of this, the defense was going to be bad eventually. He said after years of ignoring the defense, you are going to just have a bad group of players on that side. He said Dion Jordan was a bust and that when the one time you invest a 1st round pick on defense and the player is a bust, it is going to make things even worse.

So his whole deal was that he thinks Ryan Tannehill is so bad, that his play kills the entire team. He said it was a ripple effect and that until the team finally moves on from Tannehill, it cannot heal. He said it has reached the point that the team must be completely rebuilt. He is so dumb, he would have gotten rid of Tannehill a few years ago and tried to salvage what he thinks was a decent team. He kept going on about how we had a really good defense a few years ago and blamed Tannehill for putting them in tough positions all the time.

Guy is a total idiot. I can't wait till we draft some good linemen this year and Tannehill blows up next season. I am going to tell him how stupid he is.

Took me a second read to catch the sarcasm in the OP. Good one.
