Drafting a QB first round, I wouldn't say was the best bet, but I won't say it's the worst either. We need consistency all across the board and it starts with our O-Line. Granted they showed some ((not enough to merit resigning any of them IMO)) improvement towards the end, but with a stand-up O-line anybody could be the Fins QB, of course that too is dependant upon whether our receivers have learned to catch by next season.

I'm reminded of the early 90's and the Dallas Cowboys. Personally I think their offensive line, made the careers of Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman. When your throwing to Michael Irvin ((or any receiver devoid of "butta fingas")) and you've got time to spare, you'll break all kinds of records, but when it's two seconds from the time the ball is snapped till the time the defender is in your face, that makes things very difficult. Or if you don't have guys that can make holes up-front you'll get stuffed in the back field every time. Now I think those two were pretty decent players, but I'd bet money that had they ended up somewhere else, neither one would have ended up with three SB victories.

Let's face it DC isn't the QB of the future we all know that, but he is the QB for now, so we have to make due. I honestly think that if we give him enough time he'll make some sure fire throws, that is as long as he's healthy. INTs are gonna happen folks, but if you buy him a little more time there won't be any excuses.

I'll keep saying it till this team gets it right. Put the tools in place before you bring out the big-gun.

but, you will never know, right ? (that aikman and smith would have not been as successful elsewhere)

aikman was a # 1 pick (of the entire draft, if i remember). he came in and the cowboys didn't win right away.

johnson built the team AFTER he had the "big gun" in place.

you need to know what kind of QB you have (mobile, pocket-passer, scrambler) before you start building the rest of the team - WR's, OL.

check history and tell me if that has not been the case more often than not with the successful teams.

Well, I'm still not convinced, but your right we won't ever know. And yes Aikman was the first overall draft pick in the 89 draft and led the Cowboys to an astonishing 1-15 record.

Yah, you cant blame a new hc coming in and wanting to select his own qb for this team, that way his fate depends on a decision he made not that of a prior coach. If the dolphins hired me tomorrow, and if it was possible to select a qb at 9, then i would do it. It all depends on the situation but i would try. New coach new qb. I think thats the best way. I dont want a new coach to have to TRY and GET BY with what we already have. Let the coach form the team the way he wants.

i think with the right line culpepper is our qb did you guy forget hes the 3rd most accurate qb in history behind warner and bulger and not to mention his arm power if he gets enough time to read coverage well be fine
