The players get the cash win or lose...Could you imagine what the NFL would be like if the players knew the big check only came if they got paid by the outcome of their performance? The fans on this board care more about winning than the players do.
I bet Wilson would learn to make a tackle & Ginn would stay in bounds after he miraculously catches one if he didnt have that XX Million dollar signing bonus...Like Nascar the NFL needs some fresh ideas because seeing the same teams (Pitt,NE,Indy,Ect) every year in Jan is stale.
-Just saying-

FACE....

palm.....

Yes but the NFL's salaries only gaurantee you a portion of the money you sign for....there are alot more overpaid guys in MLB and Basketball who are dogging it compared to in the NFL. If you don't get it done you are gone in the NFL. Even first rounders only have about three years to show they can get it done or they also can be released.

I totally agree....which is why I enjoy watching college football MUCH, MUCH more than I do professional....it's the last level of pure football...

The coaches can put a players *** on the bench if he's not performing....it's not as easy in the NFL.

Back when players only made $30,000 a year playing in the NFL....they took it seriously....this is how they made a living.....little ******* like Ted Ginn would've been figure skaters back then instead of stealing paychecks perpetrating as football players...

These mega-contracts have made players like TO, Joey Porter, etc. more less be able to pick and choose when they want to perform and when they don't...

There isn't a single legitimate reason why several guys on Miami's roster are at this point starting, or even on it other than the monetary factor......and it's pathetic...

the stelers always win cause it's a no nonsense organization that drafts very well they only care about winning they don't over pay players they don't have cheerleaders..that's how we should be.

Fans are the major problem the rest is just a game!

We are doing the same thing we just are not there yet in year 2. Sporano is a clever no nonsense guy. Just have to be paitent.

The real problem is for some reason we cant finish games this year. We are horrible in the 4th quarter Period.

Actually if I am not mistaken eons ago... I remember Raiders QB Jay Schrader actually gave back some of his salary because he was playing poorly... found this in the S.I Vault

three-time NBA MVP Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers voluntarily surrendered $100,000 of his $3.1 million 1990-91 salary. Also in L.A., a couple of months ago, Raider quarterback Jay Schroeder asked that $200,000 of his $1 million salary be taken back, because, as he told Raider boss Al Davis, "I'm not a million-dollar quarterback." Davis agreed to split the difference and cut Schroeder by a hundred grand.

Pretty funny.

Following that logic, would not the opposition players step up their level of competition as well making the whole idea a wash?

By the way, if you really are 44, you'll remember a time when NE and the Colts were absolutely pathetic. Don't you think if you were 44 and a fan of either of those teams you'd be happy now after all that suffering when the NFL had extremely unfair free agency rules and almost every chip was against the players?
