I mean let's face it, Chad Pennington was a godsend last season. He was actually a real good guy to have leading a young 1-15 team while your 2nd round future Henne was ready. We as a team overachieved and made the playoffs, and Chad became a hero. We accepted his poor performance against Bmore because u know what . . . AFC East champions was good enough for the majority and we gave him a pass. Truth is, last season, we beat the teams we were supposed to beat and we didn't look good for the most part against teams we weren't supposed to beat.

Fast Forward to today and just like last year Arizona . . . Chad has a bad game early and fans want to get rid of him.

Here it is in a nutshell. Pennington is still the best QB on this team . . . he is the most proven, most accurate and most able to lead. But understand this . . . I am certain he will NEVER lead this team to greatness . . . . seriously, when u have chances to go down field and u aren't confident enough to make the throw . . . that is a problem. I mean our WR's are getting seperation . . . just not enough seperation to accomodate the weak arm of Chad Pennington. The Oline will be fine . . . they need to gel . . . and Chad can win us games . . . he proved that last year . . . but he isn't the guy to lead this team to greater things. He will keep us competitive, and some fans are content with that. But he doesn't have what it takes to be that big time QB a team can lean on when the running game is shut down. You can only dink and dunk so much . . . we need a 50 yard pass or 2, something that shortens the field.

These guys gotta consider Henne at some time this season . . . preferbly after the OLine gels . . . because you just gotta try to get your big armed future some reps in a real game and who knows . . . maybe he will come of age. Chad Pennington just was really frustrating today, shaky OLine or not . . . I have seen much worst oline play before and the QB still ATTEMPTS to throw down field . . . every defense is going to shorten the field against us because they know we wont throw it far. Hell a deep pass from Pennington is more of a trick play than the wildcat . . . that is sad.

We have the Colts next week . . . I still think Chad Pennington needs to get in there and run this offense and don't turn the ball over. But if we ever want to aspire for greater goals, we may have to use this year, take our lumps and get Henne in there.

I agree with just about everything you said, before this, but there will be plenty of time to get Henne in there, especially if the team does as bad as a lot of people think with Pennington in there. And maybe if the team wasn't as solid as it is, I would agree to go ahead and put Henne in there. But the Dolphins are a quality squad, and it should be about winning NOW. Not later, not yet, sure as hell not one game into the season (I know you're not saying start Henne now, but a lot of people are saying this).

The Dolphins just won the AFC East last year. Granted, the Patriots had an off year and the Jets had a late year collapse probably because of Favre, but hey, it's just way too soon to say the Dolphins can't hang with those teams. I'm going to wait til then to be okay with starting Henne.

I'd like to see Henne but of what I have seen against 2nd and 3rd string players in pre season has only caused more questions than answers. Can this guy get out of his own way?His mobility is non existant. He has to be the stiffest QB in the nfl reminding me of a robot.

I doubt he could make anything happen with his feet and I honestly think Marino with his achilles tendon injury could move better.

I haven't seen that so called strong arm or cannon on a consistant basis, all I have seen was a confused QB who also did the dink and dunk small football we as miami dolphin fans are going to grow to hate before long.I have serious doubts that our future QB that will take us to the next step is on this team.

We need a real QB that can step in and make plays long and short and have enough movement so not to be confused with a snail then the wr core needs a major enema. These guys still cannot get separation. How many more years do we have to put up with this and why cant coaching do something...anything or maybe the coaching is the problem.

In closing why do we suck so bad on special teams year after year?
You cant get rid of all the players so maybe Sparano should light a fire under this teams collective ***** and fire our special teams coach
forget loyalty...how long does this need to be a problem with this team????

Id Like To Keep Chad in There. 1 Game and Everyone is on his back. Its not like he did terrible. A little more time from the O-line plus Jake Long Got Owned, Vernon Carey had a holding call take away a td. So all the Blame shouldn't be on Chad nor Fasano. We should really just think to Week 2 and see what happens next.

I agree

Let's hope for an all out better performance from everybody in week 2. Hell I know Chad Pennington will bounce back and after this loss, I just want to win . . . and Pennington gives us the best chance to do that right now.

If there is one thing you can count on here on these boards it is the Cut this guy, fire that guy threads after a loss. We got beat by a better team; get used to it...

Nobody is saying cut or fire Chad Pennington. Facts are facts . . . he barely even looked down field and didn't attempt a pass down field. With a weaker secondary . . . like the Falcons have . . . u gotta expose that weakness a little . . . dont u? Chad isn't built to do that, and against the better defenses like Pittsburgh and Tennesse . . . we gotta be able to stretch the field and get aggressive on offense. U can't get aggressive with 10 yard passes or less all game.

Bad OLine or not . . . Pennington hurt us more than anybody not named Fasano on this team. He needs to play better next week.

Sure Pennington will bounce back from this loss....then he'll have another clunker somewhere....then he'll bounce back...then he'll have another clunker somewhere...etc...

Listen....Pennington will always play just good enough to not lose his job....that's it...

At some point....it's not about winning now....you know when that was?

It was after the team went 4-12 and Wanny resigned.....and it was damn sure after Miami went 1-15...

It's time to solidify the quarterback position for the long term for once....at least find out what you have besides Pennington...

Would you really want these guys to head into next years draft STILL not knowing what the hell they spent a 2nd round pick on Chad Henne for.....just because Pennington was able to play just well enough to not lose his job to a guy who's had all of 10 or so plays in a meaningful game?

If I'm Sparano or Parcells....here's what I KNOW....that Chad Pennington can't get me there.....everything else is unknown...

...and I act accordingly....

Indeed... the fact of the matter is that this team won't make the playoffs with this schedule.

If we accept this reality, then why the hell would you waste another game with Pennington?

We MUST know what we have in Henne before we draft in the top five next year... we MUST!

You put in Henne once we're eliminated from the playoffs. Teams change drastically throughout the season. Don't give up hope yet guys.

Why not just play 3rd stringers the rest of the way, shoot for that #1 spot again?

It's pretty much the same schedule the rest of the AFC East is playing, and all the Dolphins have to do is be better than the other three AFC East teams. Why waste another game on Pennington? Because anything can happen. Who knew the Dolphins would win the AFC East Championship last year?

This post is ridiculous.

He looked extremly lost today. That interception is unlike Chad. He seem frustrated and was forcing the ball. Can he bounce back? Of course. A win Monday and we are all on the bangwagon. Anthony Fasano was the major disappointment today.

No....what if you're not eliminated until week 14.....

Then you want to throw in the young guy when the team knows it's playing for nothing and guys are out there half assing it?

Make a decision on the future of your team at it's most important position based on 2 or 3 garbage games?

Hell no....that's why Miami can't ever get the ****ing **** right....this very line of thinking...

What you do is you make a COMMITMENT and go with it....you'll be much better off in the long run.....trust me...
