Has anyone stopped to think that Sage is the one that has value to trade? I mean, there are other 'Rick Spielmans' in the league. If he gave up a 2nd for Feeley, who wouldn't give a 2nd for Sage? Gus will be here next year to assist whomever jumps into Linehan's system. We can't keep thinking about bringing in QBs like Brad Johnson or whomever is familiar with the system. We need to develop a young QB who will learn it from scratch and GROW within the offense.

My question is: When we do find a quarterback that has what Coach Saban is looking for, are we all going to have the patience to watch our team grow? I don't think we are as close to contending as we think. Saban knows it, and that's why he is still talking about being a couple years out from where he wants to be.

I think Sage does have some trade value now. He has shown multiple times he can get it done at least as a very good backup. I don't think a 4th round pick for Sage is out of the question.

I agree with a few of your points. I don't see a rapid improvement next year because there will be another roster turnover with some young players taking more prominent roles. I could actually see us having a 9-7 or 8-8 year again. I also believe Gus will be here next year to start the season, and a rookie QB getting some significant work in during the 2nd half of the season. Then we will start 2007 with a new QB and a team that's ready to compete.

I wish I could have put it that way! I agree. Seriously though, if we gave a 2nd for Feely, why wouldn't Detroit give up a 2nd for Sage? lol... look who their GM is..

It could be frustrating watching a rookie develop, but its worth it for the long run IMO. Oh and no one would trade a 2nd for Sage, its wishful thinking though but Rick is out of the NFL and ******* like him usally come along every once in a while.

Gus should also be more effective with an entire season with our receivers under his belt. I look for Gus to have his breakout season next year.

It might happen, if a talented rookie QB lights a fire under his ***.

A 4th-5th round pick for Sage is plausible, IMO.

Yeah he could be traded for a 4th or 5th rounder but not a 2nd, not even Matt Millen is that stupid.

Rosenfels is not signed beyond 2005.
I don't see any team giving up more than a 6th for his services under current circumstances.
The truth of the QB situation is that Gus is the best QB on the team, right now. Until the FO brings in a new QB that can prove on the field that he should be starting over Gus, he will remain the starter.

Name a 13 year veteran that all of a sudden has a breakout year? Gus is what Gus is and he will not get any better. If you wanna bring up Rich Gannon there is a big disperity in Gannon's accuracy and Gus's. You don't all of a sudden get accurate after 13 years.

Um, isnt he a FA after this year? Why would anyone trade for a guy that can be had for free in FA?
