Saban wants aggressiveness, and he really isn't as worried about the penalties as people think. LSU ALWAYS had lots of penalties because he wanted them to play with a lot of fire and physical aggression. It will play out eventually.

Unfortunately the evil empire wanted it more than we did yesterday, and THAT he will get upset about.

That seems to be the inside skinny from what we hear from LSU fans. I do not think Saban cares about the penalties as much as he declares to the media. I think he would like to get rid of the offsides and motion penalties. The roughing the passer stuff is good. The taunting he could do without as well. But he promoted that style, and he will live with it.....until the time is right.

I think he might accept a pass interference call, or a non-cheap roughing QB call, or other "in-play" calls, where the player is being agressive or doing what he needs to to either stop a TD or prevent a sack. The before the snap penalties though I think he is not liking. As he says, its dicipline. Agressive penalties good.. dicipline ones bad!

Shula should come in and teach these Dolphins about penalties

I watched the game over and the penalites are DISGUSTING, however, even with those penalties, we couldve easily won the game had we not turned the ball over. Its the turn overs that killed us. The bad punt snap, the INT in the redzone, the over thrown pass that wouldve been a TD had it been thrown in front of the WR but was thrown behind him and turned into a INT. The fumble by Ronnie (which I think is BS) all add up to us losing.

It wasn't the penalties, it was the turn overs. However, when we play a top notch team, the penalties will kill us, even if we dont turn the ball over.

Mr. H is spending all this extra money on coaches and upgrading the stadium. Maybe he needs to spread a little to the refs. Refs gotta eat too ya know. I say we start a little "Pay the Refs" fund. I will chip in a little. I will even go so far as to agree to be treasure, at no charge. You guys send me the money and I will see the refs get it. If that doesn't work I will see if we can't pay someone to rough em up a little. :D

Welcome to the NFL Saban.....where penalites count and help to make you lose games to inferior teams like the Bills and Jets. Hope you learn this lesson....or you'll be like most college coach's....Not For Long.

Part of it is aggressiveness, but you can have a control aggressiveness, like when you have the ball and know when it's going to be snap, because you know the count, that can be controlled agressiveness. Off sides is just dump...
SABAN worst move this season, getting rid of Perry and the Punter, 2 pieces of one of the best ST units a year ago.

He got rid of Perry, but our punter was injured in pre-season.

Saban's already acknowledged (like BB has at various points in his career) that he doesnt mind penalties of aggression. Its the presnap ones that he and I think most coaches get riled up about.

Penalties for aggressive play show you at least care enought o physically impose your will on the opposition even if youre stretching the rules. Presnap penalties are just careless and demonstrate lack of focus and attention to the easiest detail. Its not only aggrevating to watch it just feels as though your giving the game away as it happens

PRECISELY

When I was watching the game I thought that our D was too "juiced"...

That is the only thing that makes sense when you consider how the amount of penalities hasn't dropped since the first game.

They went hand in hand in giving this game away. We could have won despite the turnovers if we didn't get so many penalties. By the same token, we could have won despite the penalties if we didn't get so many turnovers.

At least most of our turnovers were down the field on aggressive plays.....

i was always told, penalties are the result of bad coaching. but that cant be true... not with Saban.

fact is its hard to beat anyone with that many penalties. so i dont think saban "doesnt care about penalties". and if he doesnt care, he better start.

aggressiveness is one thing, 17 penalties is COMPLETLY diffrent.

We had a young agressive defense under Jimmy Johnson with much less penalties.
