It is Mando's job, as a reporter (or whatever he wants to call himself), to find corroborating sources if he's going to quote something like that. He can't shotgun blast to "get it out there" and then retract his statement and NOT get called out for it.

Of course. I'm not saying Ross is infallible. I'm saying that if I had to choose between Ireland or Ross, right now, I'm going with Ross. We all make mistakes and learn from them. Your first two points: mistakes he learned from. To me: that's beneficial.

Mando always said according to sources which is all that is required. The only person that could confirm it was Ross and Im sure he wasnt talking.

Keyword: sources ... as in, "multiple". Not "an NFL insider" ... as in, "one".

Again, it is his job to corroborate before he reports. Otherwise, you get called out on it. Remember when Florio said Bradshaw was dead because a person reported it? He hasn't lived that one down and considers it one of his biggest mistakes. Obviously, that isn't on the same level, but it's relevant enough to support my point.

You don't see Schefter or Glazer shotgun blasting crap just to get it out there first. They try to get some supporting sources, that way, if they do end up wrong, they at least followed "best practices".

Shefter and Glazer have come out many times with one source or insider . Here is exactly what mando said

UPDATE: NFL Insider Danny More said on the Armando and Perk radio show this morning that Philbin has been eliminated as a candidate. He also reported McCoy returned to Denver following his interview with the Dolphins. That would suggest McCoy won't be on the plane with Ross when he lands.]

well, there is no edvidence so far that bowles is staying is there? so honestly it really should've been a non issue to begin with.

To the point: Schefter and Glazer have come out with *one source* or *insider* who is typically *the person* they are talking about. Otherwise, they will mention sources to save their *** on lower confidence level reporting.

In regards to that piece, Armando could have worded it better. "Danny More said on the Armando and Perk radio show this morning that he believes Philbin has been eliminated as a candidate". It's simple, really. It goes from a *definite* in "has been" to a *possibility*.
 
My problem is not the fact he discussed it with Ross and Ireland its the fact he ran his mouth after he didn't get the job. It's a reasonable request but he needs to show more class after the fact.

Not even really defending the guy but he is really no different from any of the other talking heads. Also at least he trys to save face fast with an update while many just try to wait till we forget it was said

He just said why he feels he did not get the job. How is that a lack of class? There is no unwritten rule that you dont discuss your interview after the fact. He said nothing bad about us. Reminds me of the people that criticized Dez Bryant because it got out that he was asked an inappropriate question lol
