Players making it to the NFL have a number of goals. Including becoming a starter, making the Pro Bowl and scoring big on their second contract which tends to be the big money one.

Matt Flynn came in as a late round draft pick after spending a lot of his college career playing behind "1st pick in the draft" JaMarcus Russell. The Packers drafted two QBs that year and Matt Flynn made it though hard work and being smart.

Flynn does not seem to be the kind of guy that only wants one big score, he wants to play well and prove he can do well as a starter in the NFL So it would make sense that he would either want to play for the Packers or the closest thing to them. Which IMO, is a team that J Philbin is the head coach of, otherwise known as the Dolphins.

WR B Marshall was not traded to bring P Manning here, he was traded at least in part to bring Matt Flynn here. Manning could handle Marshall (as much as anyone can). But Henne had a bad relationship with him and Moore I think tried to handle him by throwing to him at these in some cases, too often and even when he was not open.

B Marshall is not a West Coast WR. He said himself last season that he does not run good routes and he does not have great hands. He said that. Add that to the fact that he wants to ball no matter if he is open or not and you have a problem in the making. Plus he is a problem just having the mental problems that he has.

From what I've read about the Packer's WCO passing offense, it is based on knowing every possible situation, timing and throwing to the open WR. This is not a "make up routes as you go along" and "pass the ball to me when I want it" offense.

So Matt Flynn should now feel very comfortable coming here. The Dolphins are going to be made into the Southern version of the Packers South. Matt Flynn will be the BIG DOG here, not any WR. This should also be the best team for him to play well for and not to turn out to be a FA bust who is cut after 2 seasons.

This is the place for Matt Flynn.

Agreed. I can see Flynn leading a new look dolphins. A WR or two in the draft and we are a totally different team (offensive scheme wise) Reggie Bush will be our biggest asset and I am hoping for good things with Charles Clay.

Very refreshing post. i still am not sold on flynn but what you say makes sense.

Let me add this.

From what I understand the Seahawks will want Flynn to compete for the starting QB position.

In Miami we have never had a QB competion and if we offer him more then we are giving Matt Morre, Matt Flynn will begin the season as our starter.

So Flynn wants to be handed the starting job and starters paycheck cause he brought tea and crumpets to the backup QB weekly meetings?

seattle is a much better team

only way he chooses miami is if they offer more money

So says the Jet's fan.....

And what is wrong with offering more money? It is the American way.

The bottom line is Miami appears positioned to make a bigger, better offer to Flynn than Seattle. The Seahawks seem to see Flynn more as a quarterback with potential who could compete with Tarvaris Jackson as opposed to someone who would be installed as the franchise quarterback on day one.

I really hope this doesn't happen, but if it does happen, I hope that Matt Moore is our starter.
