With Saban's new move of Wade Smith to C wouldn't it seem that Saban plans to blow up the OL?
IMO it's a great move because Wade Smith physically has everything a top C needs. He is quick, has strong legs, and can hit linebackers well. He will be able to slide out and play effectively. He just has to learn to make the line calls, which is the only question.
Saban's move of Vernon Carey to LT I question however as he is not physically a LT. If anyone on the roster is a LT in my opinion it's St. Clair. He's got the best height, and has good athleticism.
James is pretty much the only set guy at LG.
At RG we could have Hadnot or Carey now. I'd rather have Carey and have Hadnot as the G backup on both sides.
At RT McDougle needs to get in shape but can be dominant.
McIntosh loses out it seems but can be the backup at both T spots.
So eventually it works out as...
LT- St. Clair, McIntosh
LG- James, Cook
C- Smith, McKinney
RG- Carey, Hadnot
RT- McDougle, Pape
To say the least that's a change...
