this might seem a bit crazy, but Ricky Williams truly has been our franchise guy since he arrived in 2002. what do I mean by this? our record as a football team since he arrived year by year: Ricky's seasons with our team are bolded, 2007 i will not count since he played 5 plays or so

2002: 9-7 first season
2003: 10-6, missed playoffs due to tie breaker
2004: 4-12 abrubptly retires
2005: 9-7 comes back after year off and 4 game suspension
2006: 6-10 Suspended by league, played in CFL
2007: 1-15 he didnt play until the pitt game and he was out for year
2008: 11-5 AFC East Champs!!

With Ricky: 39-25
W/O Ricky: 11-37 :foundout:

It is a shocking stat. I for one believe he needs to be on this team till he retires for good. picking up his option is great, but we need to lock him up with ronnie brown. the tandem seems to work very well since 05, and ricky has been the heart and soul of this team since he arrived in 02.

Ricky is incredible and Ronnie worshipers still sleep on him.

Did you hear Simms telling it how it is, talking about how much talent Ricky has and how fast he still is.

Ricky is a helluva player and aside from Chad Pennington has been as clutch as anyone on the team for us this year. He has also been an OUTSTANDING leader for us.

Great player that Ricky is.

Well when he has been here has ahs always played well. Between him and ronnie they got about 1600 yards russhing. Best 2 punch RB's in the NFL i say.

I love Ricky...still wished he had caught that pass.

Ricky Williams is arguably the best backup running back in all of football.

He's been solid if not spectacular, cutting down on his fumbles and making some big plays in key spots at times. He's also been very unselfish about his role on the team.

That said, you can post his win/loss records all you want, but the fact is that he has never gotten this team to the playoffs. Neither has Ronnie Brown for that matter.

If I had to give just one player credit for making that happen, it would be Chad Pennington.

Until now it was beginning to feel like the Ricky curse. 2002 was the year that I became an absolutely hardcore fan of the Dolphins (although I watched most of the games before that and was always a Dolphin fan), and part of that was because I became absolutely enamored with watching this team and Ricky go. But from Fiedler's injury in 2002 until this year, it felt like one tragedy after another, and having a lot of Cubs fans in my family, I fully believe in sports curses.

With that said, today's break of my perceived curse was absolutely amazing. I love having Ricky on my team and hopes he plays a couple more years in a Dolphin uniform.

if you go back to 2005, we were 1-3 without him during his suspension, so the numbers could be:

2005 1-3 without ricky
2005 8-4 with ricky

I'm not surprised. Ricky was our best player for most of those years so when we lost him we were terrible. You can never have too many good players.
