Good thing Ricky Williams already went with the bald look.

Now he won’t have to worry about violating another NFL rule.

The Chiefs have proposed implementing a rule to prevent players from letting their hair flow down to their jersey nameplates.

The proposal seems innocuous enough and is frivolous compared to larger issues such as looming labor strife and HGH testing. But long hair was among the most talked about possible rule changes Sunday at The Breakers resort in Palm Beach, where the NFL is gathering this week for its annual owners meetings.

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu — Chiefs running back Larry Johnson yanked him down caveman style by his hair last year on an interception return — and other hirsute players would have to tuck it, shear it or tape it to comply if the rule is adopted.

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards insisted it’s not a cultural issue, but one of a uniform code.

Hair is considered a part of the uniform, as outlined in the so-called “Ricky Williams Rule,†which allows players to be tackled by their manes just as they would be their jerseys.

There is no rule yet and most likely they will not have players shave their head but will most likely have them tuck their hair in their helmets. They wont make them cut their hair because it is in some players religion and culture to have long hair (mainly hawaiins).

If they have to have a crew cut to play in the NFL I'm OK with it. They make the military personnel cut thier hair for being a part of that origanization.

Who here wouldn't cut their hair for the money they make?

Don't get me wrong, I'm against big brother controlling things, but a rule like this doesn't bother me. People make choices every day when it comes to accepting a job. It's business.

the new rule would in no way require players to cut their hair. Just can't have it hanging out over the jersey. they could cut it, or tuck it up, or tuck it in to the jersey. The CBA has stuff written in to it that prohibits the teams from requiring players to have certain hair styles, no facial hair, etc.

They also are talking about making every face masking call a 15 yard penalty, and doing away with the accidental face mask penalty which has been a 5 yard penalty. I think this would be a good rule.
