Ok, so if the other team rushes three and puts the rest in coverage we are screwed right? Tannehill does not figure out defenses like that. So when that happens he should be able to run for medium gains. He has got to run or roll out, like every time his primary receiver covered until the D has to respect it.
In the pocket Tanny is "streaky" to put it very nicely. Run That Man, it seems to get him into the game better anyway. I'm so sick of watching him sitting back there waiting to get sacked by three guys he is faster than, pull it done and run. Look at his pass to Cameron, he is better when he rolls out, somebody has to realize it.

Any other ideas? and remember we probably lost our starting right tack for awhile.

For someone who played WR in college RT running does not reflect as such!

Roll him out, run the option early and often. He seems more confident when he rolls out. When he stays in a breaking down pocket he runs to the pressure like a moth to the flame.

If I were defensive coordinator going against Tannehill I would either rush 3 or 5+ on every play, never 4.

I disagree. I would always rush 4 because I know that with this offensive line those 4 will get to him real quick while the 7 dropping back into coverage will have no problem covering all of our receivers.

Put a dominant offensive line in front of him. May take another 3 to 5 years, that's if the Dolphins have a legit GM. Resign Miller, hope that Ajayi is the real deal, draft another power back. Resign Matthews if possible, although it will be difficult with the next years cap situation. Try to get Cameron to restructure, if not then they will have to draft a seam threat TE. On the other side they need to continue to build the defense. With a dominant running game and defense Tannehill can get you into the playoffs and possibly win a Superbowl.

Not easy to find an Elite QB that can carry a team. The Patriots have to be one of the luckiest teams in the history of the NFL. Not only to find Brady but to get him in the 6th round. Guys like Brady and Rodgers are so hard to find that it's easier to just build a great team around a guy like Tannehill.

They pretty much came close to that with Fiedler, but of course he was so limited physically and Wanny was a joke of a coach that it failed.

The best way to use Ryan Tannehill is in a balanced offense. He is at his best when play action is effective and we have seen it time and time again. When we get into throwing it 40+ times per game, we don't win.

This.

They are using him the right way.

He is a system QB. If he is forced to throw the ball 40-50 times a game it means his team will probably lose.

He has obvious limitations. He almost NEVER looks to throw deep. He cannot get out of a bad play on his own.

He can't MAKE IT happen. He is not a clutch QB like Montana was or like Rodgers & Brady are now.

You can't count on him to make a play when the game is on the line.

He will go through his reads and make the easiest throw, regardless of the score and actual distance to make the 1st down conversion.

The best way to use Ryan Tannehill is to give him a cap with the Miami Dolphins logo on the front and a clip board.

How many teams like that exist? I would say there are way more elite QBs than elite teams that can win with a QB like Tannehill, which means it would actually be easier to just try to find an elite QB.

You need an elite coach, an elite QB or an elite team. I would say elite coaches are more rare than elite QBs. And elite teams are even more rare than elite coaches. The easiest way to rise from the ashes is to just keep plugging away at the QB position.

So would you draft a QB in the 1st round every year? The Seahawks won a couple years ago with a strong running game and great defense. Wilson is very good but not elite. The Ravens and Giants won with a similar formula. Eli and Flacco are very good but not consistent enough to be called elite.

Right now there are only maybe 4 or 5 teams in the league that have what you can call Elite QBs. New England, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, San Diego and maybe Indianapolis (Although Luck has been struggling and has not been able to carry that team this year).

I don't see any elite coaches being available this year, at least no proven coaches. Don't see any elite QBs in this years draft. So what should the Dolphins do in the draft? Take a shot with a high pick on a QB or fill holes at other positions and take a shot at a QB in the later rounds?

Either way the Dolphins are in a tough spot. There are no proven elite coaches looking for work. The odds of finding an Elite QB are high. Building an elite team would take quite a few years of great drafting.

Yes, I'd use him as trade bait.

I do not blame you thinking that way, once the overrated tool that is Tom Brady retires, I know If I was a Pats fan, I would not want one of my chief rivals to have Tannehill. In the mean time, hard as it may be, try to show some class in victory.
