This probably has been started up already, but I would love to see Ron Rivera as our new HC. In a way I would love to see an explosive, offense oriented coach; however, Rivera's defense is just too good to ignore. Hes never been a HC, has that hunger, and has created a consistent top-notch defense throughout his tenure at Chicago (God knows the bears aren't in the playoffs due to qb play :sidelol:).

You couple him with Capers, and I couldn't imagine the sick, sick packages we would throw at teams week in and week out.

Hopefully, you take Rivera, and let him hire a solid OC, and we're set.

I base my opinion off of his NFL track record thus far, I hope hes not another tyrant... :rolleyes2

If Rivera goes to Miami, Capers is gone. The Bears are running the Tampa 2 and Rivera will want someone from the Dungy coaching tree as DC.

Count me in on this bandwagon. But if we hire him, then the offensive coordinator spot takes on new importance.

You bring up a good point Bucs fan - yea needless to say, the OC position becomes make or break if we hire Rivera. Hopefully, whoever comes in, will fire Mularkey, God I hate his play-calling.

I dont think we will be able to get him, but the only way I would want him is if we got an amazing OC. Capers system is fine for the team and he wont return with this hiring making the transition even more less smooth.

that's precisely why I don't want Rivera as coach. We need a coach from a 3-4 or 4-3 system to utilize our guy's talents. A guy like Zach Thomas or Jason Taylor will not be interested in learning a new defensive scheme.

No to Rivera

The guy is running a version of the Cover Two defense. It cannot stop elite teams, in fact that defense has only had success once--when the Bucs won the Super Bowl. It was designed to stop the West Coast Offense, it is a terrible defense against the power teams that prevail in the AFC. (It just so happened that Oakland was running the WCO when they faced the Bucs in the SB.) There is a reason the Bears have struggled against AFC teams the last two years. The Cover Two/Tampa Two can be blown up. We had what, 200-yards rushing against them? The Steelers just dominated that defense last year, they were picking up 5.5 yards a carry. That defense needs turnovers to be effective, and against efficient quarterbacks, it doesn't happen. It's feast and famine like the Bengals last year, lots of turnovers, but if the team doesn't turn the ball over, they are in trouble. The Bears defense isn't nearly as good as people think. They played the second, or third-worst schedule in the league. That defense cannot man-up and stop a championship caliber team, and if they are fortunate enough to make it to the Super Bowl, they will be obliterated. Dungy is the master of the Cover Two, and Bill Polian is about as good a personnel man as there is in the league, and they still cannot get that lousy scheme to work in Indy. The 3-4 has a long history of success in the Super Bowl, keep it. Say no to Ron Rivera.
