The Saban Growth Spurt

Saban is definitely going bigger, but remember that Wannstupid only drafted 3 guys who started for the Phins (Chambers, McMichael and Mckinney). Most of Wannstupid's players are JJ's draft picks or Free Agents aquisitions.

Somebody explain to me why a thread like this has only 10 replies versus the one that says: "Yippie skippie! We have pics of Jay Fiedler as a jet" :shakeno:

Good work as always CK.

My point exactly. Great threads drown, while stupid ones grow to 30 pages :shakeno:

Consider this bumped again :)

Seriously though, as for the building from inside, Romeo Crennell stated dang near the exact same thing when he took over the Browns and talked about what kind of defense he likes to play. He said the focus is on the middle...the DTs, the ILBs, the Safeties...you build out from there.

I am not entirely sure that Saban buys wholeheartedly into that, however...because, to be honest, look at our roster. We're very thin on DTs, with Chester being a moderate injury question mark and Bowens being a heavy injury question mark. Kevin Carter was signed to be a DE mostly, as stated by Saban himself, and so now all we've got behind the two injured giants is Jeff Zgonina, Dario Romero (who probably shouldn't be on an NFL roster), and the new guy Vickerson.

Saban just does not appear to be stocking the fridge with many DTs. But he sure as heck is stocking us up with DEs. We've almost got enough starting quality DEs on the Phins roster to stock THREE teams' starting rosters between JT, Carter, D.Bo, Holliday, and Roth. But both Holliday and Carter have the versatility to be used inside, while D.Bo, JT, and Roth have the versatility to be used in standing positions as linebackers.
