No Chicken Little the sky is not falling. It may look cloudy right now but blue skies are coming.

The first two days have been fast and furious that’s for sure. Of course not fast enough or furious enough for many Dolphin fans likings.

“Aggressive patience†is the theme as describe in the Sun-Sentinel for Cam and Mueller. Mueller states, “we are going to be involved in a lot of deals†but he also says, “we’re going to pick the right ones that help us in the long haul.†To me that’s the statement we as fans should be looking at, the long haul. Cam and Mueller are dedicated to fixing the problems of the past ten years.

In the past few days they have been trimming the fat from this team but what names have been let go that wasn’t discussed? They cut Carter, ok he was due to make $7m this year. I liked him and he was a good leader, but his production wasn’t worth that. Does anyone remember last year when he said about Matt Roth, “he is the reason I will retire?†Looks like time has come for Kevin to move on. They cut James, McKinney, Anderson, who really wanted them back at the cost?

Look at the names on this list, are they really that important?

Sure they are bodies, but they either over paid, underperformed or both, and they are gone. There is a chance that some could be brought back at a lesser contract and that’s great, but not one of them is irreplaceable by free agents that are still out there and rookies that will be drafted, or players that are already on the roster.

Take solace in knowing they didn’t go out and spend $49m on a guard that has never made the Pro Bowl, or $80m on a CB that is in no way shape or form the same league as Champ Bailey.

It seems to me that the Miami Dolphins are finally in capable hands of people that want to build this team not with high priced overpaid free agents, but young and upcoming talent than can be molded into a TEAM.

right, we're finally cleaning house and even though some of the moves may not be popular, they are overdue

sometimes you have to take a step back first before taking a step forth, and that's the situation we're in now

On top of all this only 12 of 32 teams have actually been involved in free agency so far. We are not the only team being caution in an inflated market.

From PFT
ONLY 12 TEAMS HAVE SIGNED FREE AGENTS

Through nearly two days of free-agency activity, only 12 of the 32 NFL teams have signed a player who spent 2006 with a different team.

To monitor all of the signings, be sure to check out our 2007 Free Agency Movement tracker.

I agree, there is still a lot of talent out there that will be brought in to fill holes and continue to build on. Not to mention we now have at least 8 picks in the draft, and possibly more coming.

JT and Zach

The only ting hat worries me, are those guys. Didin't one of them say, that if this team wil lstart rebuildin itself, H'll retire? And im sure..if one will retire..second one wll follow..So..i belive if we will have a mdiocre..6-10. 7-9. or 8-8 eason..i think thy will retire..=((

Nope, the sky is not falling. Actually, I'll probably be looking foward to this upcoming season more than any other. We are in for a major overhaul.
Getting a second for Welker will be a steal, considering we got him for nothing. While his heart and determination on the field will be missed, some values just cannot be passed up.
As for us not signing any free agents yet, lets just wait and see how this plays out before we start panicking.
We still have to wait and see what we do in the draft. Which if we aquire anymore picks is probably going to be one of our most exciting ones in a long time.
Let's not forget, when teams have to start paring down their rosters(June 1st?) some more players will become available. Always a few suprises get cut around that time.
It's turning into a very interesting off season, and I cannot wait for it to play out.
As far as people worrying about going through a rebuild period, think about it, we haven't been exactly tearing it up the past three years. We have more holes and question marks than everyone is willing to admit. And we have been at the edges of cap hell for a long time.
Let the youth movement begin.

I think it may all depend on how it all plays out. Maybe they will retire, but if they like the direction the team is going in, maybe they will stay. Like i said, there is a lot of off season left, and we havent begun to do anything in it yet.

If we deal McMichael for a 3rd-rounder, then the sky looks bright as hell.

That'll be five day one picks, and probably the addition of a few good FA's.

Hopefully we can sign Porter and Big Coop. I'd like Hamlin as well.
