Four coaches won more Super Bowls, but no one won more games and only George Halas coached in the NFL longer than Don Shula.
Add up Shula’s credentials and an impressive panel of 118 Hall of Famers, championship coaches and other experts put together by The Sporting News tabbed Shula the No. 5 coach in the history of sports - and second among NFL coaches to Green Bay Packers icon Vince Lombardi, who coached five championship teams in the ’60s.
A list of sports’ 50 greatest coaches of all-time will appear in this week’s TSN, with Shula No. 2 among the 10 NFL coaches who made the list.
(By the way, Bill Parcells is No. 33 on the list, which is below, and 10th among NFL coaches.)
