The Steal of the Draft?

I love Landry, love what people say, what little I saw on TV I absolutely loved his ability -> instant fan favourite go and get your jerseys's boys I know you were disappointed on Draft day 1 - no one ran out for a Juwan James jersey but these Landry jerseys will sell like hot cakes

I love how Landry said he was the reliable one...when they asked him about LSU receivers...we need a little swagger and toughness at the WR spot.

I can see im contributing this year for maybe 400-700 yards and a couple TDs. There is a lot of versatility and talent at our WR position especially when you add in Clay. That's 5 guys who can make a mismatch on the field or create a problem with how they get open. I hope that if he produces in that range the Finheaven crown won't lose their minds and call him a bust as it usually takes WRs a couple years in the pros and the team is deep at solid WRs.

He is one of the most complete receivers in the entire draft and the most important trait that he has is his ability to make the catch. I know this sounds stupid, that of course a wide receiver should be able to catch the ball. However not all wide receivers always catch the ball, or can make an acrobatic catch, or make a catch across the middle, or hold on to the ball after being hit hard.

There's no need to explain. We are all now quite familiar with Mike Wallace. :chuckle:

On Espn they show how most of the draft picks now spend months in advance working on their 40 times. Sports science and every fraction of a second is big money. I really question that any of these guys can run anything near what their 40 time is even 6 months later. Certainly not guys that have been in the league for years.

4.77 is a number that will have a significant impact on our team. I don't see 4.77 on the tape
.

and it is so odd that people cant get off that. it was a FLUKE!! a ONE TIME bad run. throught his career he has never even been close to that, he is a solid 4.5 speed guy who plays MUCH faster on the field.

jerry rice was a TRUE hi 4.6 speed. he did alright. i just dont understand why fans will see that one time, off run with a bad hammy and stick with that even though the guy has 100 timings in the 4.46 to 4.56 range!! a player may be scouted with much more positive's than negative but the fans will take the negative and bury the player [especially if they didnt like the pic].

o-lineman get this the worst. if you look at james scouting reports, his "negatives" are less than a few of the top drafted guys!! better feet and mirror and pulling ability. all the traits needed for the zone block scheme he excels in. but he was a bum and we should have traded 3 of our next 4 draft pics to move up and get one of those top guys.

scouting reports on o-linemen are all over the place. you will see them say, " he is a great pass protector, exelent athlete who mirrors and has a good slide step. then at the bottom in the weekness catagory they will say , "needs to work on his feet". to funny!! go to your mags and read the positive and negative on o-linemen and see the contradictions the scouts gave. in every draft o-linemen get the craziest write ups by the scouts.

well, when his opponents were asked who from other teams they respect the most and Landry's name is dropped multiple times....that says a lot.

just stay away from twitter and Amis and Omar Jarvis!

What was this guy projected? Around 20 I believe

REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO training camp and seeing what these new players can do.
We should see very shortly what kinda receiver Landry is vs Grimes.
That looks to be one of the most exciting matchups with two of the toughest guys on the team pound for pound.

I'm sick of hearing about Landry being the steal of the draft. I'm sorry but we're getting ahead of ourselves. He may be good. That would be great and I will be more than thrilled if the Boldin comparisons are even close. But I've seen Cris Carter comparisons, I mean really? He went late in the 2nd for a reason and it wasn't just his 40 time. I do think he was great value, but lets stop over hyping it. We're setting ourselves up for severe disappointment, even if he turns out to be great he won't live up to half of you guys' expectations.

I for one am glad he ran a 4.77 40 yard dash. If he ran a 4.5, he never would have dropped to us.

I think he'll be a complete stud. Still can't get over the fact that Carlos Hyde was there though before we moved down. I think that was a bigger need. To not even draft one RB was a complete failure on Hickey's part
Yeah, Hyde is the guy I wanted. It seems like forever since Miami has had a power back.

Not everyone needs to be a burner. But in this offense everyone needs to execute their role. Our offense features the slot receiver. When Gibson was healthy and started build a chemistry with Tannehill, he was a first down making machine and we were winning games.

We were supposed to have both Gibson AND Keller working the underneath, but Keller went down for good in preseason. Then when Gibson went down our offense suffered greatly.

Green Bay always had/has a stable of good route running and good hands receivers. They draft a WR every year. We are following that model.

I'm guessing that we want 2 WR's that are dependable underneath guys. It allows us to run 4 and 5 receiver sets occasionally and it gives us fresh legs, and most importantly, coverage for injuries.

We would have been a better offense last year with healthy Gibson and Keller. Clay added some nice chunk yardage, but a healthy Keller would have added more and been a quick safe outlet for a beleaguered Tannehill.

Landry seems like a guy who can add another strong pair of hands and downfield blocking for an offense based on short passes.
