For all of you Ronnie Brown haters here are some stats for you to mull over about another running back in his rookie year:

Through Week 1: 8 attempts for 0 yards.
Through Week 4: 57 attempts for 156 yards (2.7 ypc average)
First TD of season: Week 7
First 100 yard game: Week 9
100 yard games for season: 2

Here's another bust of a back who missed most of training camp his rookie year's stats:

Through Week 1: 2 carries for 2 yards
Through Week 2: 8 carries for 13 yards (1.6 ypc)
Through Week 4: 37 Carries for 104 yards (2.8 ypc)
First 100 yard game: Week 5
100 yard games for season: 3

Who were these awful horrendous running back busts???

#1 was none other than the sweetness Walter Payton
#2 was NFL rushing and rushing TD leader Emmitt Smith

So Ronnie haters just STFU for one damn season and let the guy run.

:rofl3:  ......... Please go and give me the first two week stats of Ki-Jana Carter and Curtis Enis too while you're at it.

This is actually a GREAT post because it sheds some light on how eventually great backs don't make an immediate impact in the NFL. But enigmatics's post is on too -- there are total busts who have the same lack of immediate impact. This is why it's really premature to label Brown a bust.

Now we need to see a stat on eventual busts who made a great initial impact. Then we can bring Cadillac off his high horse too.

Weren't both of them INJURY busts?

Curtis Enis through 2 games had 171 yards on 34 carries (5.02 ypc)

Ki-Jana Carter had 21 carries for 37 yards (1.76 ypc)

The moral of the story? We know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about how RB's career will turn out through two games, so just STFU!!!

Great Post! - I agree completely...Let Ronnie play more than a couple games before labeling him anything...

I thought Ki-jana Carter only had 3 carries before tearing his ACL?

Those were the stats I found. Perhaps they were in his comeback attempt year, but those are listed as his first two games' stats.

Ya, Im pretty sure Kijana got injured either in the Preseason or his first game.. He shows up on OJ McDuffie's local show occasionally, and I remember him talking about it the other day.

skape, I think you're right. I think he was injured in preseason, and the stats I found were for his first actual regular season games in what would normally have been his second year.

It's way too early to call Ronnie a bust. I think he'll be fine and will be helped when Ricky returns.

So it seems that most of these Top 10 backs taken in the drafts have only been busts due to injury.. Have there been any that were just busts because they sucked? I cant think of any.
