We (defensively of course) played, even with the injuries we had, phenominal. That being said, how many games can you guys remember where the exact circumstances occur:

We stop an opponent all day (night) long, only to need ONE STOP, and then fail to get it. Carson Palmer's completion % was "Fiedler-Like" for the majority of the game, Chad J& Rudi Johnson have done nothing the entire game.......

Yet when you need to make ONE PLAY, he is wide open. I am not blaming the D for this loss by any stretch, but this has been a trend which has bothered me for a long time.

It's hard to rip this D, they gave phenomenal effort and kept us in it. But you are right. They hold them all game, and then give it up when it's money time.

agreed... but maybe if they weren't so worn out from the pathetic offense!

I 100% agree. This D does the same thing every time in these situations. It is becoming sickening. Why do you think this always happens? Why do they give up at the end always? And why can't we ever blitz up the middle? Our blitzes up the midddle always get stopped, ALWAYS!

Our D really messed up tonight at the end. I am prepared for all the fools to come out and praise the D, but it's been the same story for the past 8 years. Doesn't matter who is playing, they never come up at the end with a big stop. Tired, tired, tired.

It is so hard to rip these guys, you can tell how hard they play.

I'll be honest, when they signed Taylor to that huge contract I thought one day they may regret it. But I'll tell you, not only does he play hard, he gives a sh&*, and that goes a long way with me.

Sad thing is a couple years down the road when the offense gets fixed (hopefully), these guys will either be cap casualities or waaaaaayyyy past their prime.

Kinda depressing isn't it?

I understand that the D could not come up with the stop at the end, but HOW DARE U say anything about the D. THEY PLAYED SUPERBLY, given the bulls**t thing we put out on that field called an offense. In 2 weeks our D has given up a total of what? 19 points?????? 9.5 a game, our O can't score more than 9 points a game?? absolutely pathetic. And the reason I think that our D didnt get the stop was because they were obviously stuck between a rock and a hard place. They could either sit back in coverage and give up the yards or try to go after it (RISKIER) and get a stop. I'm proud that we went after it, tryin to get that stop. It was a risk, and we had to take it cuz if we were to sit back we would have given up the yardage and they woulda kicked a FG anyway. Your damned if you do, your damned if u don't

Lets end the defense bashing. Yes, they didn't close the deal but they've only given up 19 points over 2 games. AJ has given up nearly as much as the entire defense with the 2 INT TDs.
Don't think Feeley should be benched. Let the kid get more playing time. Doesn't matter who's back there with the OL playing so poorly.

I'm sorry Im just so irate right now, its blurring my vision. I just feel for the Defensive players so much, with all they have to put up with on the Offense.

This is not a "bashing" of the defense thread, I think under the circumstances they played brilliantly.

But again, this has happened a few times in games where you need one person to step up and tip a ball, get a sack, or defend a pass....and here we are.

(the last few seasons against the Patriots would be good examples of this)

I love my D though!!!!!!!

The Defense played there butts off they played great the reason we failed at the end is simply to many 3's and out.......

The defense played awesome tonight. My main problem with the gameplan was calling the timeout on Cincy's first down when it looked like they might be playing for overtime. That third down conversion hurt us big time. The offense looked ok at the end and the offense looked good throughout.

I won't make excuses for this D. It is like a broken record. They play lights out the whole game, then go soft when it counts. I can't take it.

Nobody is saying the defense played bad or didnt play hard. They simply choked when it mattered. You can make excuses like they were tired, they were hurt, but the fact is they had been stopping them all night and when it mattered they failed.

The D plays like Wanny acts on the sideline. When things start to go wrong, DW goes bug-eyed and yanks at his hair.

I'm not saying there's a connection; it's just an observation.
