.. for the use of anyone standing on the "sorry, just can't do it, rooting against us defies every inner fiber of my being" side of it.

Originally as blowback, I was gonna do a derogatory one including a word that rhymes with "Luck" as a label. However after giving this much thought, I've come around especially since there are some long-term (I emphasize that distinction) outstanding posters whom I respect who are advocating sucking for Luck, perhaps out of their own sense of exasperation and despair. :idk: Unlike noobies who may come on here to shovel their ****, these are the posters with whom all of us have shared blood, sweat and tears. - for too friggin long. So no insult to them as their tenure and quality of posting around here confirm they are true, not bandwagon, fair-weather or frontrunning fans.

However, with no slight to that group, personally, as a life long fan, it's still hard for me to understand rooting against my team, even if it results in "present pain for future gain." Now if we lose 8 straight games or whatever and don't put up much of a fight, I might be more receptive to just throwing the rest to get Luck or Barkley.. but we're nowhere near that.

Sorry, rooting FOR the team, not AGAINST it is in my DNA. I have no choice. And I suspect there are a lot of other fans who involuntarily feel the same way. It's for these fans I've created the following button-badge sig, if anyone aside from me cares to link to/use it. It's not a slam on posters who've proved themselves around here to be legitimate fans, but rather a statement for those whose of us whose hearts can't allow them to root against what's likely their favorite team in all of sports:

Voila:

nah, you're on your own on that one!

I feel the same way. Logic tells me each win puts us further away from getting that francise QB we desperately need.

But I know in my heart I could never root against my team.

If after 10 games we only have a win or two logic may win out.

Hootie was right.

Hey if we are 2-8 after 10 games, then some of this bs would merit more consideration . . . after 3 games, it is down right STUPID. There is no logic behind it . . . this is the Dolphins we are talking about . . . with our luck we draft Luck and the guy has a career ending injury in camp. I rather enjoy this season a little longer before I throw in the towel.

I cannot root against Tony - or the team - however the writing is on the wall (Daniel 5) I am just saying with realism that we are toast this week against the Chargers... This game could really get ugly, Tony is lame duck coach -the players while professionals are playing like an interim is on the way - albeit Henne has stepped up is playing for a contract from someone...

I cannot picture our new HC hired until the sesaon is over

I anticipate one of the three top tir QBs in the first round and I expect Henne to sign a two year contract and start next year

I truly doubt we are in the Luck bidding in a few weeks but the overall pesonnel decsiosns and the longer term contract for Tony are puzzling

I think at worst Henne is a servicable backup, not because of lack of skill or anything, just merely because of inconsistancy. That being said, we've all seen his improvement; I wouldn't say he's jumped leaps and bounds, but he atleast has progressed with the pack of young QB's in the league, rather then degressed again this year, as we all had felt he did last year.

My problem with the whole suck for luck thing is that I don't think Andrew Luck alone is the answer. I think that QB is absolutely the most important position on the team, but it's not a one man game. Luck would be an upgrade from Henne, but to expect us to be playoff contendors because of one guy just doesn't seem all that logical to me. The Patriots have a better QB then the jets yet they have gone further then them the past 2 years (records aside).

My opinion is that we have an average coaching staff and front office, they aren't horrible, and they do have room to progress. I think they've put together a decent looking team but there are major holes on both sides of the ball. We have a lot of stop-gap, bandaid type players. We have stars who underperform. We have players that our entire team is based around who are too close to the age of 30, without any replacements or people to pass the torch on to in sight.

So where I'm at is do we let these guys fix what they haven't yet, let them keep progressing and learning and doing what they need to do to get over the hump? or do we call it a day? Do you all feel that this coaching staff and team has hit it's ceiling? I think they have shown they are willing to adapt to the league, and they may be a bit in over their heads right now, and it's very easy to say sink or swim, but I just have trouble throwing away everything they've put together. I like a lot of what they have done, and yes there is also plenty to hate as well. The things that bother me are the fact that they sign the same players to answer problems theyve had for 3-4 years now. Resigning Nate jones and will allen speaks a lot to me in that they haven't fixxed a problem and keep applying the same bandaid. have they not learned? or are they unable?

I guess what i'm getting at is that I wouldn't mind Andrew Luck, but I wonder what Sparano and co. could do with a few more years of building on this group? The problem is they've made some questionable moves and their personnel has underperformed, and they players they are banking on are getting older. Henne will be going on 28 years old next year.

I might be on the suck for luck bandwagon, but not quite yet, for some reason i still have a little faith

I don't quite get how any fan of a team can root against their team for a player who may or may not turn out to be a good player. We only get 16 reg season games a year and if we are lucky get to see a few more postseason games, good organizations can find talent anywhere in the draft.

In a sense, I AM rooting for the team by wanting them to lose. Why? Because they have to play for a garbage coaching staff and F.O. And the quickest way to get rid of them is by throwing it in and Land ourselves Andrew Luck. With Andrew Luck, we will have our pick of the litter of talented coaches and GMs and F.O staff. Coaches and staff that will be able to find players that CORRECTLY fit the schemes we are implementing and maximize the skills they posess. Do you REALLY wanna suffer through another 7-9 season?? Not me.

Trust me, it's for the greater good if we just tank the season now.

I root for them every week (there are other 1st rd QB's I'd be happy with), but I'm not nearly as upset when they lose as I have been in past years. It used to ruin my entire week, now I just grab another beer and move on. So, I wouldn't say I'm in the Suck for Luck crowd. More in the Jaded/Luck as a Consolation Prize crowd.

By the way, I heard about the NYjunc roast, I've decided not to participate as it would cater to your membership and I am committed to your banishment from FH. You can breathe a sigh of relief now.
