3 positives after reviewing the pats game.

1. our defense is ALOT better than we get credit for. easily a top 10 unit and statistically a top 5 D. the pats had 1 drive on us. 1. and even it resulted in a FG, not a TD. the other 17 points were off the 3 turnovers that gave the pats the ball inside our 40.

2. wes friggin welker...no doubt the offensive MVP thus far.

3. vernon carey...loving this pick more and more. also, watch him run down samuels on the 2nd int and make the tackle. VERY impressive athleticism.

and now for the negatives

1. jeno james...has actually gotten worse and is now our worst o lineman. just watch the tape. this is why berger is now listed ahead of him on the team depth chart.

2. ronnie brown...needs lasik surgery because he has no vision. again, watch the tape. would rather run into piles of players for 2 yards than set up defenders and cut back or break it outside for big gains. by my count left four 20+ runs on the field.

3. mularky/offense/special teams...4 times inside the pats 40 and came away with no points. (2 punts, a blocked fg and a missed fg.) also turned the ball over 4 times resulting in 17 points for the pats.

random thoughts...

- peele tackles vrabel on blitz and is called for holding on the play that harrington connects with booker down to the 1. it's a shame too because vrabel wasn't going to get to joey before he threw, and also, ronnie stayed in to block and would have picked him up. then we have a fg blocked and go from getting 7 to getting nothing.

- hagan was in position to get his first nfl TD. unfortunately joey overthrew him on a deep post. a well thrown ball = 6pts.

good points. im worried about the secondary though. ronnie somehoe reverted back to his first 4 games of his rookie season, when he would tippy toe to the line, and go down... hope thats temporary, maybe he still getting used to new blockers or something..also, wes is one bad dude man...never knew he could be the player he is being....the hagan overthrow, i rememnber that one, from what i remember joey threw 3 bad passes sunday, the two picks, and that miss right there...

imo..good post though man.

I liked your post and I really agree with Ronnie. I think he's more of a down hill runner and will only be good if we have a solid offensive line. I think we need more of a slasher speedy running back to compliment his style.

I do not get how the turnover scoring does not effect the defensive performance.I mean that once the turnover is complete din`t the defence come back on the field?.

You missed one big one, Will Allen PI in the endzone 7 points. He's done this once a game so far he really needs to start finding the ball. It looked like the Pats set him up for the PI. Watson stopped short Allen runs into him hands flailing in the air. Allen turned his head but he obviously wasn't going for the ball because it hit him in the back!!! That should have been an easy interception.

sure the d goes back on the field. after the brown fumble (on the fins40) they hold them to 3. The 1st int came all the way back to the 10. What does brady usually do when given such a short field. you really can't bash the d on that td. it aint that easy to hold them out there. the over-throw to hagan........thats what 1 day of practice will get you. it's all about timing. that will come.

A loss is a loss.
If you look at the Eagles Pats game superbowl stats. The Eagles did awsome but I don't think they saw the loss as a building block. A loss is a loss thats all I have to say.

ARE U TALKIN ABOUT RICKY...

Yes.

"You cannot replace a Gary Berteer." (Remember the Titans)

You can fill the roster spot and you hand him the ball, but few RBs are elite.

We are not only missing Ricky's elite talent on the field... Ronnie is missing Ricky's tuteledge on the sidelines and in practice.

This is one of the most misunderstood and overlooked value Ricky Williams has on this team.... putting his knowledge into Ronnie Brown's head.

I've made a few posts about Ronnie missing HOLES. And, in the same breath, I know RBs are taught to trust their lineman and go to the designed hole... but, what makes a RB elite is his instincts and ability to take a 2 yard gain and bust it for 20. It's not just about breaking an initial tackle... it's about VISION.

Ronnie's got the physical tools to be Top 5. He simply has yet to develop the vision and instincts needed to take it to the next level.

Write this down: Ronnie will get better the minute Ricky is back on the team.

Until then, he's a pupil without a teacher.

Ronnie is a great athlete. Hes missing holes, yes. Hes not making the plays he could be making. However, to his credit, just going off raw talent, hes still doing better then half the leagues runningbacks.

ronnie still has rookie tendencies and that's to do EXACTLY what the coaches are telling him. Coachability is a great quality but untill someone tells him to improvise or make a play he's going to keep running into the backs of our lineman.

Remember too, it took Ricky a couple of yrs to breakout. In NO they were calling him a bust and then he came here and was unstoppable.
