Granted, a hiring of Chan Gailey wouldn't be the most exciting thing in the world, but if you could think all the way back to '00 and 01 for a minute.

We had very limited talent on offense - and while we weren't statistically up in the standings - the offense was at least efficient and did put up some points now and then!! This w/ Jay Fiedler at QB. Gailey's offense actually helped keep us in games combined w/ our pretty good defense back then! Remember folks - we won 11 games two straight years. Who here wouldn't take that right now???

Now, he'd be working with a better defense w/ a guy like Capers at the top. You would figure the defense would only get better if anything. Now, Gailey would be working with a better RB (or better RBs if Ricky does come back) and a better QB if Pepper gets healthy. Heck, I think Lemon has more upside than Fiedler ever did.

This might work out just fine. While it wouldn't be the most exciting thing to watch, if you could tell me we're going to win 11 games, I'll sign up right now!!

I'm fine w/ Mora too, but I'm not exactly going to cry if Gailey gets the job. In hindsight, he wasn't the worst thing to ever happen to our organization, and he may end up being the perfect guy for the job!!

And to add to what you're saying Tom, whose to say it won't be exciting. Think back to Gailey's offenses in Pittsburgh in '96 and '97, when they were Top 10 both years, and his offense his first year in Dallas and the first few games of '99 when he still had both Irvin and Raghib Ismail healthy. 5 wide receivers, option plays from time to time, etc. When he's got some talent at the skill positions he can make it look exciting, just like any other offensive coordinator when he's got the players for his system.

Let's also not forget his ability to adapt. Kordell Stewart has Gailey to thank for having his name come to the forefront and forging some sort of decent career in the NFL.

I don't see how our defense would be better now. Back then, we had Surtain and Madison locking down the corners. The current scheme is different but I wouldn't call it better. The personal is definitely weaker now.

I'd prefer Gailey over Mora. Honestly the college comment soured me on Jim Mora.

No doubt our current DBs don't stack up to Sam and Pat, but the front 7 are better and run a better scheme. They made our DBs look decent from time to time, even w/ those big plays mixed in. Our D back in '00-01 had it's tough moments too (remember that fourth quarter against the Jets ).

I'm presuming we upgrade our DBs a bit in the offseason to go w/ a strong front 7. That's why I think we'll be better. Imagine this year's D, but cut down the big plays by half! That's what I mean.

I am still trying to find out if Jason Garrett was a backup QB under Gailey in Dallas. Is that so and if so, does not Garrett become our OC with tutalage from Gailey? Maybe that is why Garrett turned down Saban in the end because he knew some things that were going on with the thinking here.

Garrett was the back-up to Aikman in '98 and started 5 games when Aikman broke his collarbone in the first half of a Week 2 game against the Broncos. He went 3-2, and both losses were by a point each.

Gailey - HC
Garrett - OC
Capers - DC
Muelller - GM

I wouldn;t mind that at all. In fact I would bet this team would make a very quick turnaround.

I agree. I think that's how it would go down, and it's the reason I think they've kept the wraps on Garrett all this time, not letting him talk to anyone.

i think gailey would be a great option at this point.....i prefer him over mora......and think the combo of him capers and garrett will work well.....time to build a family here

Hey, just think how the Bills felt with Juron and levy running the show last season and hey, the did sweep us. So, I guess ANYTHING is possible if the right pieces are in place.
