Ok. So I have read a ton of posts about trading Ricky now. And the thing that most of them have in common is that they do not suggest specifically what Miami would get for Ricky. Everyone is just siked up about getting "another first round pick" because it sounds good. But ask yourself, who would Miami get at #22 or #29? That is what you have to consider. Would it be someone that could contribute as much as Ricky can? I seriously doubt it.

The only idea out there that sounded unique was for Saban to deal Ricky, get the additional first round pick, and then deal that first round pick and the #16 pick to someone for a top 5 pick. Someone like Green Bay might do that because they need more than one first round pick to improve their team. This idea sounds like the only one that would get someone that is of Ricky's value.

But keep in mind, this deal assumes that Miami could get someone to make that deal after they trade Ricky. It could end up that no one wants two late round picks for a top 5 pick. Then, Miami would lose Ricky and have to make the best of those two late round picks. I don't see how that would be an upgrade to the team.

no team will give us a first...the argument is denver's second since they have 2 firsts.

How would it not be an upgrade. We would still have a great RB in Brown. And we could use the pick for a starter at another position LB CB DT OL.

IF Denver gave us one of their firsts, we could get someone like Manny Lawson. That is SOOOO worth it. But we'll probably get a second round pick. I can't give you a name of a guy we could pick there, but I'm sure it would be a high quality player.

I love Ricky, but as far as I'm concerned he is past his prime and UNSTABLE. When Saban brought Ricky back he spoke of "value". The way I see it, he showcased Ricky(late in the year, oddly enough)and is now "willing to listen to trade offers" that was the plan all along. Judging by Saban's first draft we could get a solid YOUNG player, to groom, out of the deal, i.e. Abdul Hodge(LB IOWA) or Andrew Witworth(T LSU). If we can get a second rd pick for him, it's a done deal!

if i remember correctly the ravens got mark clayton.:wink:he turned out really good

There is great value in picking up a young stud (which you can find in the late first or second round) over an aging star (how many great years does Ricky have left? History tells us not many.).

dude a 1st or 2nd and the deal is done...saban wont hesitate...the nfl life expectancy for a RB aint much after 30...the best value we will ever get for ricky is right NOW!!! and saban knows that... those that say they won't do it...are just plain crazyi love ricky and love what he did this year but we have our franchise runner and need help in other positions....with the way saban drafts i am sure we can get an immediate upgrade at CB or LB with that late 1st early 2nd pick

ther more picks the better...the last few years us dolfans have been deprioved of the nfl draft...we need picks!!!

Ko Simpson or Max-Jean Giles would be great late 1st rounders.

The only way Ricky is traded is if denver or whoever gives us a 1st round pick.....PERIOD!!!!

"i'M CRAZY TOM!!!!AND I'M CRAZY ABOUT MAKING TRADES!!!! CRAZY AHHHH!!!!! TAKE A 1ST!!! ..LITTLE BOY HERES A 2ND ROUNDER!!!...COME ON DOWN I'M CRAZY TO MAKE A DEAL!!!! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless your first name is Tiki. Somehow he seems to get better every year. Apparently 30 is the new 23.

I dont know much about football, but Maybe, just maybe you could accumulate as many picks as possible and trade up. Or just go ahead and draft players that will be future starters. Ok, its nice to have depth at RB. But what good is quantity at one position, when you need quality at so many other posistions. Especially at QB. All i know is..... 1) Ronnie Brown wasnt drafted to run the ball 12 times a game and 2) Saban drafted 3 future starters in the first 3 rounds last year, so i'll trust him and say that he pretty much knows his sh**.

Well...Ronnie Brown is not YET a great running back. I see a lot of promise in him but to tag him right now as great RB is a stretch.

I do not want RW gone peroid. That's just me. He and RB are capable of of becoming an awesome power. To make the Miami Dolphins the kind of team that NS visions, one that other teams HATE to play is going to take a very punishing running game. I don't see NS chancing the potential of that on the X factor.

Having said that, I realize that this is Nicks team and what ever direction he chooses to take it will be fine by me.
