I heard talk of this awhile ago and it kinda died. What about moving Travis Daniels to safety next season? I like the idea and I think that Travis Daniels would make an awesome safety. Under this scenario I think you use him and Bell as the starting safety, do not resign Lance, and release Tebucky. Keep madison, hopefully bring in a top notch corner (BRIAN KELLY), will poole as the nickel back. This would be a solid solid solid secondary!

I'm not sure but I think Daniels is a safety playing Cb at the mo cause we r so short there

he played safety and CB at LSU. Injuries made him switch to CB...

Didn't he play to good to be moved? If so, a good young corner is on of the best things you can have, so don't waste him as a safety, even if he would be solid there. He can play safety when he is 30+.
If we bring in other CB, keep Madison and Daniels would fall down in the depth chart to only be the dime back, than of course it's worth to think about.

If we find ourselves with three clearly better CBs than Daniels on the roster, then he could and probably should move to safety, with the option of moving back to CB if we get injuries.

Getting 3 better CBs is going to take some work though, especially with Madison seemingly with one foot out of the door already. So chances are next year, opening day, Travis is still at CB.

There's no chance of us keeping Madison. He's already said that he won't restructure his contract. I don't blame him because Wanny and Co did lie to him the first time he was approached about restructuring. He's out of here for sure.

We drafted him to play safety, but Poole went down. He could go back to being a safety as soon as next season.

how can you say that? He played two important years as cornerback. Nowhere in the organization mentioned Daniels as a safty.

no. lets get kelly, as much as it hurts to say, get rid of madison, keep daniels and poole and possibly draft someone, keep lance, he fits welll here and keep tebucky or get someone else

why move him to safety? he's our starting corner and did amazing as a rookie. Let me ask how did other first round CBs like PacMan Jones did? with another year of experience i believe he could become one of the better corners in the league

Travis Daniels has showed no potential and should be cut from the team ASAP. Every team takes advantage of the matchup against us when they line up a big Wide Receiver like Eric Moulds against Travis Daniels.

He must have caused atleast 5-7 pass interference this fricken year. I have not seen him positioned as Safety, but him as Cornerback is a HELL NO.

I agree, I don't think he was drafted to be a safety. I believed it was speculated because the perception was that he was a tad slow for a CB. I am fine with him at corner - but we need a healthy Poole, and/or another starter. I see them drafting at least 2 DB's this draft, along with a FA pickup. Bell and Daniels are the only sure returns in my mind for the active roster last year.

God why do people keep believing this crap.

He was drafted to play CB folks. He was picked after Saban missed out on Webster as Saban felt they needed a CB and this was before Poole went down also.

The only talk of him at safety came from the MEDIA briefly and not the coaching staff at any juncture.

Why in the hell would you play anyone at safety when they can play CB. At worse he'll make a pretty good nickel back.
