The Trenches win games.

There is a considerable difference between not wanting to hear anything negative and being exhausted by the same group of posters complaining about the O-Line 24/7.
What about us that are exhausted of hearing from the same group of posters, that the Oline is nothing to worry about?

I'm annoyed too, it goes both ways.

It would be different if we had any sort of track record of success for you all to fall back on, as a reason for your optimism, but some of us have routinely pointed out the flaws of our roster for years and years on end at the beginning of the season and every year we catch hell for it, from this same group of posters.... Only too ultimately be proven correct at the end of the season and then that group immediatly forgets how incorrect they were and goes silent until the start of next season, only to bring out their pom-poms yet again and get all in their "feelings" when anyone says anything they deem as "negative" towards their beloved, hasn't won **** in 30 years, football team.

You wanna talk about exhausted..... give me a ****ing break.

I don’t know how many different ways I can explain this. Semaphore? Smoke signals?

It’s not about you. There’s no need to “fall back” on anything. You’re allowed to critique. We’re allowed to critique your critique.

Do you want me to go back and start looking at how many times you flip-flopped on Tua? Allow me to assure you that you have been wrong PLENTY with your pessimism.

WE DON’T NEED TO JUSTIFY OPTIMISM TO YOU.

We are Dolphin fans and in a thread about worrying about the trenches should not invite people to attack our worries about a certain parts of our team. We haven't won a playoff game in decades and what we post here doesn't affect the team at all. It's the offseason so any chatter outside of personal attacks should be welcomed. We can still talk about hopeful/optimistic outlooks on the topic but our track history alone should warrant any pessimism about certain areas in our team. If you don't like what's posted on here just go to another thread. I personally can't comprehend how people can delude themselves that there aren't red flags but I'm not gonna call out posters because they're drinking the koolaid. But at the very least this 1st game should tell us something about one side of the trenches (O-line). And I'll always hope for the best in our team, just can't feel good about everything on our team because I'm a Dolphin fan.

So a lot of the talk in this forum has been about the O-line rightfully so since the hype is about our offense and Tua. But I haven't seen much threads addressing our D-line and now that we've lost our best player in it in the offseason (Wilkins) how do we really feel about that part of our team? I feel like we had moments throughout the season where we've failed to provide consistent pressure. And while we have a good secondary on paper I'm worried that our D-line will pedestal and rely on our secondary which usually doesn't really bode well against A-tier QBs. How do you all feel about our D-line going into this season?

Will Chop Robinson shine in his rookie year? Does Campbell still have it a 37? Will Zeiler keep up production without Wilkins?
I predict we will be top 10 stopping the run and in qb pressures. The dline is going to be better than you think, and we have good depth and talent at the edge. What you really mean is the front 7 and our front 7
As a whole is probably pretty close to last year. There probably isn’t much of a drop off between Raekwon Davis’s and Benito Jones at the zero, and between Kalais Campbell and Wilkins at the other tackle. Well be missing Chubb in the first half of the season but hopefully he’ll return in time for our playoff push and we have Bell, Mo and Chopp who should be able to get some nice experience and deliver some qb pressures in the interim playing with Philips. The scheme uses a lot of bodies so the players will have fewer snaps but will come in waves as opposed to last year when Wilkins played like 90% of the snaps so the players should be fresher. Jordyn Brooks is an upgrade over what we had in the middle last year and is also good in coverage. It’s a pretty good front 7.

Chop is a depth pass rusher at the moment, but he's quite young. He'll get some coaching, some experience and some time in the gym and should develop nicely. Early in the year, scheming should help him out until the reinforcements arrive. Kamara is more likely to play 3 downs.

DT needs to be addressed in next year's draft, preferably 1st round if there's a fit. However, there's probably enough there this year barring Campbell and Seiler injuries so that it isn't exploited. IOL will likely be addressed in the 2nd and/or 3rd round of the draft. If there's a C they like it could be 2nd, although WR wouldn't surprise me.

We still are projected to have quite a few picks next season.

Its interesting, because both sides of the conversation have a point.

Of course there are red flags. Every team has red flags. Posters are allowed to be positive despite the red flags. That doesn’t make them delusional or “Kool-Aid drinkers.” It makes them optimistic.

And if names and generalizations start getting lobbed one way, you can be pretty certain they’re gonna get lobbed back.

Chop’s age is one of the reasons I’m so optimistic about his development. From all accounts in TC, he’s been a sponge as far as wanting to learn.

Dude won’t turn 22 until next January.

That's your problem, you have 30 years of frustration clouding your judgment on a team in it's 3rd year of it's current regime.

You're saying no one backs it up with statistical evidence but that's not true, we provide it, you ignore it.

Last season, Fins were top 5 in both yards per carry and yards per passing attempt. They were also one of the least sacked team in the NFL. That doesnt scream **** OL to me at all.

Unless I start doing some heavy mental gymnastics and stary telling myself that the only reason Fins couldnt beat good teams last year was the OL. Or that somehow, I should have 8 great Olinemen in case 80% of the starters go down to injury during the season.

Quit crying, you don't need a break, you need a ****ing spine.

Chad, there aren’t many posters here who have no worries about our OL. We all have concerns, but we see potential and improvement in terms of coaching and bringing in Paul to replace TA in the future or when he is dinged up.

What we don’t do is constantly obsess on how bad the OL is before we’ve played a season game. What’s the point? What good will it do unless your name is Ross or Grier? One of the great things about being a fan is that every season is a time for hope!

The problem is you are including stats from an offense that has players we no longer have rostered, namely Williams and Hunt.

You need to stop harping on season long stats.

If you focused on stats from the last 8 games of the year they would have more weight.

So when someone is using OL rankings to make a point, we'll just use the 8 worst games for the Fins OL(when they were down to 3rd string players) vs the rest of the league's total season? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

No, when someone is using different players to prove a point, the reasoning is flawed.

May as well compare Tennessee's Oline from last years to ours this year.

The players are different.

The current roster is closer to the last 8 games of last year than the first 8.

dline is a concern, if Sieler goes down we're ****ed. Our oline and o in general make our subpar blocking look better than it is. McD needs to stay creative otherwise we get our **** pushed in on those obvious pass or short-run plays...creativity slows the other d down. So, if injuries occur on O and McD can't maintain that creativity, we are cooked against great teams
