I have not made my mind up yet concerning A.J. Fiedler or Jay Feeley or whatever #7's name is. But this is the 100% objective, unbiased truth of A.J.'s performance today. He has played significantly in about 13 games since high school, is 26 years old, and has had to share much needed time with Jay since minicamp. He was named the backup this week and took about 20% of the snaps in practice this week, compared to 80% that Jay had. He was throwing to a guy who has been here all of two days, one who has been here two weeks, and the rest of the receivers he has worked with for only 50% of the time since minicamps. Not to mention he has a line blocking for him that consists of one proven decent starter, one cast-off, one who made his NFL debut, a center who is a first year starter, and a left tackle in his 2nd season who is about to be replace because of poor play. So....i think Mr. Feeley(i think thats right) did an admirable job coming off the bench unexpectedy against a perenial playoff team and a sure Super Bowl contender. Use your brain people....this guy could be great or be a goat....but dont you think the team deserves to know the truth? He should have been named the starter since training camp and been getting this practice time he and the first unit so desparetly need. This debacle must end now....and for God's sake please people.....dont write stupid comments about Feeley....you dont know what you are talking about. These are ALL facts. You cannot disagree with facts.

All the more reason to be shocked that he could even hang with Jay Fiedler, a starter on this team for 4 years now. You may not be sold on AJ but the fact is he has more talent and potential than Jay along with being able to run the offense equally or better with a limited knowledge of the playbook tells you that AJ should be starting hands down.

Can we hang this fraudulent 4 year argument up already? Even I am tired of typing out the response calling out the fallacies at play.

I obviously didn't see the game today, but it does look like AJ played admirably. If the coaches have seen enough to start him, I'll support that choice all the way. At the same time, I'll totally support them if they want to continue with Jay.

What fraudulent argument?
He has been the starter for 4 years correct?

As for your supporting whatever the team does, having a mind means that you are able to assess things on your own and develop an opinion. It must be strange to choose not to use that ability.

The fraudulent argument that I think you were alluding to is that "AJ has been here 6 months while Jay has been the starter for 4 years, so AJ playing as well as Jay means that AJ is really beating Jay" one.

I don't support whatever the team does. I have been consistant in my questioning of the manner in which the team chose to handle its first round pick in last year's draft, both in trading with the Vikings and choosing to take Carey over Wilfolk. In the case of this QB battle, I defer to the coaches because I realize that they have a lot more to go on that any of us do and that it really may be a matter of giving AJ backup time to make sure he's ready to go when they feel he is ready to start. I don't tell those of you who are critical of the team that you're mindless haters, so don't dare suggest that I'm mindless because you don't share my opinion.

EXCELLENT POST CHUBBY!!!!!!!! The VERY SAME THING IVE BEEN TRYING TO SAY!!! I AGREE WITH YOU ON EVERYTHING! LETS GO FEELEY!!

Thanks PhinFan.....its really the truth all the people in the NFL know it. The powers that be will finally remove this coach and QB after this season and let start over....hopefully still with A.J.....i think he could be special.

If you didn't see the game why comment?

I watched it. Jay was OK at times. His 2 INT's The first one he just lobbed it up, ,he had another WR open but choose to go to Booker, i think he was even double covered.

The 2nd INT He had TWO wr open! Yet he forced it in...

So to sum it up, Jay had one of his worse games as a Phin, he did not look like a 4 yrs starter. There's no reason you should support Jay if he gets another start again.

Just look at it this way...besides a somewhat rookie/fresh starter mistake (flat pass picked for a TD) did AJ not look like a real pro out there? You can definitely tell the difference between his passes and Jays passes. Jay is a okay QB. An excellent back up and would be welcome with open arms in a place like SF or Arizona, but anywhere else he's only proven himself to be a great BACKUP. Besides his record I can't think of any stats that ever said he's anything more than an excellent backup QB. He has his great games (Cowboys...Redskins comeback). Ever since Dan left we've needed a even below par/on par average QB. A.J. gives up this chance and from the last game we have nowhere to look but up with this guy.

What part of what I had to say suggests to you that I needed to see the game to comment?

There is a damned good reason -- I'm a Dolphins fan. I support our players. Every player has good and bad games, and I trust the coaching staff to do what is best with this issue. It is true that they may abuse that trust, but I know that they will do that to their peril.

the only difference is #7 should know the players and the playbook alot more than he does at this point, second, #9 is #9 and he does all the above, which is why i thought he should be the starter and he was....but there is so much pressure on DW that its infiltrating the team i think...or...OR it was really as close as advertised like i thought, that maybe MAYBE #7 can make a run at this...and POSSIBLY be a younger #9. see how that works.

Don't give me the "im a dolphin fan' blah blah blah... Jay played like poop, and if you did watch or pay attention to the preseason AJ played better.

You sir are pigheaded, can't you see where it got Wanny?

Jay pretty much cost us the game. Defense was on the field way too much.

:fatman:

sure it did, but things are changin' i feel it i my bones and I'm in F**k'in New jersey dammit!!

HIS BOY WAS BENCHED...does that MEAN ANYTHING??? IN GAME ONE??? WE'RE MOVING ON!!!!!!! things should be shakin up, i cant wait to see the next damn game live on DTV the F**ckers. i hope wanny is as fired up as i am, cause i have a feeling he is......

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GIVE THIS ARUGMENT UP

Can I make it any clearer than that?

We're going to make this painfully obvious this time around:

Fallacy one: Jay knows the players

Which players? He certainly knows Rob Konrad. Rob is the one guy on the field when Jay is on the field who has been playing during Jay's whole tenure. I think it's fair to say that he also knows Chambers and McMichael pretty well. The truth of the matter is that Jay has had just as little time to get to know Gordon and Booker as anybody and that his brief playing time with the 2 guys starting on the OL (soon to be 1) is pretty insignificant when you consider that we all know that the OL plays as a unit.

Fallacy two: Jay knows the system

What system? Chan's system? It's gone. See Atlanta. Norv's system? It's gone. See Oakland. Collier's system? He's back to coaching our RB. Our OC is a brand new coach who came from the Colts. Last time I checked, Jay didn't play for the Colts. Even if the terminology is the same, taking the two years (NOT FOUR) of experience with the Norv terminology into battle isn't really anything given the fact that this team was all about running Ricky during Norv's tenure. That option disappeared if you haven't already noticed.

I submit that any time somebody brings this tired dog and pony show with them, it is simply their way of saying, "I'm tired of seeing Jay. He isn't like Dan. Let's go through 15,000 guys until we find a guy like Dan again." It's fingernails on a chalkboard.
