In my opinion Wes Welker has NOT done enough to keep this spot. I know Wes is a touchy subject on this site, but the truth is we need a better #3. Wes is about as good as he is gonna get. Hagan on the other hand is extremely underrated. He got bashed for having "bad hands" becuase of 1 senior bowl performance, while his entire college career was overlooked. I hope he gets a lot of balls thrown his way the rest of preseason because I think this guy has a chance to be a very solid wideout. Here's to a huge year for our recieving corps and wishing Daunte the best of luck.

Marcus vick will be the number 3 come mid season:D

Btw, did u just log in to see if anyone responded to your post? ... well 2 people have. TGIF:goof:

I think that #3 spot will be critical because the #4 will not see too much time barring injuries. Keep in mind we did not use a fullback much last year, this year I think Beasley will be used in a lot more sets and that leaves room for only CC, Booker, and McMike, with the #3 as the first sub in. The #3 will no doubt see a lot more time than the #4 reciever.

wes hasnt done enough to keep his spot, but yet you want Hagan to be the #3?

has he even caught a pass yet?

I cant see why Hagan deserves the nod over Wes for the #3 spot. I do think that Hagan needs to be given his shot though and I have faith that Saban will make the right decisions based on his evaluation of their performances. Thats the way it should be.

The point is Hagan has the upside and putting him in right away would be a huge confidence boost, and this guy will rise to the occasion, with all the attention Chambers is gonna get, the guy has a chance to do some stuff. Wes is undersized and has peaked.

It's Welker's spot to lose. He made plays. Hagan has done nothing yet. Yes, I said yet. I hope he turns out to be a playmaker, but at this point Welker is better than any of the other options because he has proved it.

Vick and Devin Aromashodu both have more upside then Welker...should they be #3 WR?

I think Saban looks at both of them as 3's. It depends on where we need the 3rd receiver, slot goes to Welker and split to Hagan.

truth is wes had a very good year for his 1st at WR in the NFL.... to say he isn't going to get better makes no sense. I would think that with experience every player can improve their game. Hagan should eventually be a starter on this team IMO... but as a #3 WR Wes Welker can be one of the best around.

When you have a controversy between multiple players for the same position, usually it proves that none of them are worthy of the 3rd spot. Considering that, I figure that Hagan should be 3rd and Welker fourth. However, I feel it would be better to have a young guy like Fred Gibson or Marcus Vick at the 5th spot rather than Cliff Russel or Frank Murphy. Russel and Murphy are both above 27, and in my opinion this is a spot on the depth chart to develop talent.

No. Rookie WR's usually take a bit longer to adjust than other positions do in the pro game.

Hagan was drafted primarily to be the #3 receiver, or higher. But putting him in before he may be ready is more a recipe for offensive disaster than it is for confidence.

When Hagan is ready to be a #3 receiver Saban will begin to work him into those situations more and more. But for now, he probably isn't as good as Welker and shouldn't be a #3 just because he has more upside.
